Guest Banky Report post Posted October 10, 2002 I'll admit RVD's matches with the Undertaker were pretty good, but c'mon he has bombed against Lesnar, Hardy, Triple H, and even Benoit. He looked terribly weak in his encounter with benoit at Summerslam, and thats not good at all. Instead of doing his spin kicks, lame forarms, ect...he needs to work on modifying his style. I know it sucks, but I think it HAS to happen.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted October 10, 2002 Well...everyone has bombed with HHH since his return. And Jeff Hardy has gone nuts and blows more spots in one match now than most do in a career. The Benoit Summerslam match did make him look really bad though. What they need to do with RVD is give him a direction and stick to it. The problem is...all the good wrestlers aren't on his show.
Guest BaldFish Report post Posted October 10, 2002 If RVD would work the psychology into EVERY match, instead of just the ones he considers important to his career, then he would have absolutely no way to improve, within the WWE striking-as-transition style. Guest Brian Report post Posted October 10, 2002 His selling is still iffy.
Guest BaldFish Report post Posted October 10, 2002 RVD is, IMO, the best seller on the RAW roster. The way he takes neck bumps is godlike. And really, NO one sells ANYTHING for a long period of time unless they're fitting it into a storyline. Reference: HHH lying on a table, RVD with taped ribs. *****? No, he does a legdrop. That made me fall in love with his ring performance all over again.
Guest Brian Report post Posted October 10, 2002 Bumping (taking moves) and selling (showing the pain) are two different things. Regal is probably the best seller on the RAW roster, and Golddust neck. After that, it's pretty much a toss up. Maybe Hurricane, but him working super WWE style hasn't helped.
Guest BaldFish Report post Posted October 10, 2002 Fair enough. RVD does sell very well, though, but only in Big Matches. When it's just an everyday TV match, he half-asses it. Kinda sad, I guess.
Guest cabbageboy Report post Posted October 10, 2002 I don't see how RVD bombed against Lesnar at all. I thought that Vengeance match was pretty cool aside from the stupid finish. Has anyone really gotten much better out of Brock? The Rock match is only notable due to a clean finish and the weird crowd reactions. I wouldn't say RVD really bombed against Benoit, the match was booked horribly. NO ONE pays to see an RVD match to see his opponent work his shoulder for 20 minutes. In an RVD match that is boring. We all know that HHH tried to make RVD look bad by wrestling to his weaknesses instead of trying to cover them. RVD is passably decent and at times great in a normal match, but he is at his absolute best in a wild hardcore environment. I don't know why WWE is so obsessed with making him wrestle this mat based bullshit when it's something he's never done in his career and has no interest in. Guest Brian Report post Posted October 10, 2002 Benoit left the door open for RVD a number of times, but we've already discussed this.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted October 10, 2002 All of it means nothing since he isn't on SD! where the workers are. He is on RAW. Where he should be king.
