I have the money for a trip to Japan. Airline, hotel and food like that. How much extra should I bring for wrestling videos, posters, shirts and such stuff like that? Where can I buy wrestling merchandise? Also, is it hard to get tickets to events there? I was planning on trying to see some wrestling (That is the major reason I want to go) and if I am nt able to get tickets for some reason like no shows while I am there or something like that. Or should I just spend the extra money and go with Mayfield next time? Any advice from anybody especially if you have gone would be really great. Thanks.

The idea of going taking a vacation to Japan just to see wrestling scares the fuck out of me. The Mayfield Mayhem tour? Christ you'd have to pay me to spend time with a bunch of jaded puro geeks.

But on the other hand I love wrestling just as much as anyone hear and I'm trying to get my company (I'm an electrician or will be shortly) to send me to Japan on a work term. My main motive for going is Japanese wrestling so I guess I'm talking out of my ass.

I was thinking of the Mayfield thing too. They are all going to be huge puro fans while I am still a rookie in that field but I love it so damn much. Just because my main idea for going to Japan is wrestling it doesn't mean I8 won't see anything else, but atleast 80% of it will be around wrestling. I just don't wanna go there and not be able to find the NJPW store or anywhere else I can buy wrestling merchandise and not see a single show. I wanna make it worth it.  It is going to be me and a few of my other friends.

Forget Mayfield, you can arrange your own trip for far less money.

Tickets are easy to get, you can buy them direct from the Korakuen Hall or wait outside and get cheaper tickets from the scalpers. The Korakuen Hall is easy to find too, just get a taxi (expensive) and ask them to take you to the Korakuen theme park.

If you want to plan out a detailed trip then check out Great Hisa's site at www.puroresu.com and look at the schedule of events, usually there's about 3 or 4 shows at the Korakuen each weekend.

What is the Mayfield Mayhem tour?

Thanks in advance.

The tour is basically a bunch of geeks who go to Japan and go from wrestling show to show and than go to Japenese YMCA's immediatly afterwards becasue anything that doesn't have to do with wrestling (like having a life) is scary. The guy who runs the scam I mean uh... tour says no marks ALLOWED!!! So if you want to talk about something besides Keiji Mutoh's dick stay home. Here's his site:

Wow, you're really adding to the breadth of the conversation there, Hopey...

This is probably the wrong place to ask about trips to Japan, all things considered...if you leave a message in the ETC board at otherarena, I'd bet Frank or Keith or someone would get back to you with some info regarding making arrangements and what to expect.

Thanks everyone. I will certainly do that Jubuki. I was going to go to the Great Hisa's site but I posted the thread like half an hour before I had to leave for work.

When I went to Japan (my Mum lives there it wasn't a wrestling trip) I found the new wrestling videos and DVDs very expensive. New commercial 3 hr releases were in the £50 ($75?) price range and DVDs were even more. There are plenty of second hand video stores in the cities that cell hundreds of wrestling videos - all kinds too. I got Best of nWo Muta Vols 1 and 2 for £10 ($15?).
