Guest griffinmills Posted October 9, 2002 Report Posted October 9, 2002 Brock/Rock was too little, too late. Brock hadn't gained enough credibility to be taken seriously, and Hogan was too exposed to provide a sufficient rub for Brock at the last minute. The video packages were good, like you said. Wouldn't that make it "Too little/too early/too late" ? Since the Brock/Rock match wasn't as big as they hoped, it was too early for Brock and too late for Hogan to give the proper rub. :-)
Guest Kid Kablam Posted October 9, 2002 Report Posted October 9, 2002 Angle/Benoit is like Magnum/Blanchard? Do you guys thrive on mindless superlatives that you can throw out in any situation in hopes of winning an arguement? How are the two related in any way? Try answering that question without the word "hate" and I'll give you a cookie. Jesus, try using a dictionary. The feud made them both look like idiots. Angle for getting his face shoved in someone's ass, and Benoit for laughing at something that's really not that funny. Right off the bat, it's a shitty premise for a feud, and the fact that it continued by Angle making Benoit get his face shoved in someone's ass as retrobution is just ridiculous. Then, with both of them lossing, it made them look worse. Then, they were paired together constantly so that everyone could laugh at how they miscomunicated and lost to guys like Billy and Chuck. Yeah, that just wreeks of ~old school~ NWA booking right there. Seriously, what were you guys thinking? A feud isn't defined by it's matches. If two guys have a great match to decide who gets to eat paint remover, they don't suddenly come out of the feud with credibility. The hasn't been a decently-booked fued since Flair/Undertaker, and even that one ended horribly. Color me unimpressed. I was not trying to compare the two really, I was merely stating that I keep hearing people complain about the lost days of epic feuds where somebody hates someone else. It seems that the feud these people always mention is Magnum Blanchard. I will admit I have not seen the feud. My point was more about how people bitch and moan for one thing, then when you give them what they want, they continue to complain.
Guest Anglesault Posted October 9, 2002 Report Posted October 9, 2002 I like how the Angle/Benoit thing is going. They're trying to one-up the other guy, and they flat out hate each other's guts. The way SD went off the air is the way things SHOULD be. Yes, this is a great feud. Benoit: I can lose a match and make an ass out of myself better than you can! Angle: Nuh-uh! I'm the master of losing and looking like shit!

I wanted a feud where two people hate each other for a VALID REASON. Not because one laughed at the other and the other laughed back.
Guest alfdogg Posted October 9, 2002 Report Posted October 9, 2002 I think the Angle-Benoit feud is all about putting on awesome matches, rather than character development. I may be stating the obvious here, but I'm just saying is all.

You're not trying to compare the two feuds, but you think that smarks should shut and be happy because Benoit/Angle is the next best thing? Embarising two net favorites as much as possible is giving the internet what it wants? The more answers you give, the more questions arrise in my mind. They're not the same thing. They're not in the same galaxy, even. Two guys who "hate" each other isn't a novel concept for a feud, and neither is a feud stemmed from a bad sense of humor.
Guest BaldFish Posted October 10, 2002 Report Posted October 10, 2002 It's about keeping them from doing anything worthwhile so they don't over shadow the Smackdown Golden Boys (Brock and Edge) Dude. You think any match featuring Benoit and Angle is NOT going to overshadow the rest of the goddamn card? Are you crazy? You just have to say those two names and ba-da-bing, you have a MOTN and probably even MOTY contender.
Guest RickyChosyu Posted October 10, 2002 Report Posted October 10, 2002 I've seen enough bariels to know that even if someone is having the best matches, they can still have zero credibility with the fans if the promotion doesn't want them to. This feud is stupid, and it makes both participants look stupid, even if the matches hint at better possibilities.
Guest AfricanAmerican Posted October 10, 2002 Report Posted October 10, 2002 I thought the Angle - Benoit feud centered around Angle telling Eddie that his anklelock was the best move and he was the best wrestler and benoit overhearing (as someone said) causing a sort of competition/hatred between the two... which lead to distractions in each others matches against rikishi.. I could be wrong though
Guest Anglesault Posted October 10, 2002 Report Posted October 10, 2002 Yay. That happened, what less than two years ago, right? We need to do it again!
Guest alfdogg Posted October 11, 2002 Report Posted October 11, 2002 causing a sort of competition/hatred between the two Well, that was kind of what I meant.
