Brush with (Movie related) Ignorance

Recommended Posts

Guest ISportsFan

My high school's homecoming is this week, so we have a full week of stupid "spirit days" to supposedly pump everybody up. Well, this year's theme involves movies; each day's spirit thing is associated with a movie.

Look at these crappy choices for movie related spirit days:

Monday: Pajama Day (Groundhog Day; not too bad)

Tuesday: Cowboy Day (Wild Wild West; AWFUL!)

Wednesday: Surfer Day (Blue Crush; TERRIBLE!)

Thursday: Crazy Day (Girls Just Want to Have Fun; PATHETIC!)

Friday: School Color Day (Bring it On; KILL ME NOW!)

Of course, every single one of these could be remedied easily (Unforgiven, Tombstone, etc., for Tuesday), but the Student Council is completely hopeless beyone beilef. I can't wait until I get out.

It's amazing how easy it is to understand how odd people are by their taste in movies.

Bring it on rules

The only problem I have with Bring It On is the obvious black v. white racism that's going on. They decided to take the cheerleading movie and totally mess it up with the black team v. white team.

It soured on me because of that.

the guy from upright citizens brigade was absolutely brilliant as the dance instructor in that movie. the whole thing should've been about him.

Eh, other than Wild Wild West it's not really that awful and It could be worse. Besides Groundhog Day makes up for the rest.

Problem with surf movies...there aren't many good ones other then documentaries so there's really no improvement to make there. Well i guess they could've shown Surf Nazi's Must Die, but a big black momma fighting surfing skin heads would only be an improvement to a very small number of people. At least it's not Surf Ninjas or Johnny Tsunami.

One reason some of those movies (WWW for one) may have been picked is because the school wouldn't want offending any parents.

One year we got a complaint for showing the Goonies -- yep, the GOONIES...

WWW has Salma Hayek's naked BUTT, creepy crawling tarantulas, countless deaths by gunfire, disgusting bionic body parts, various cursing, and even racist jokes. Yep, harmless.

What pissed me off about Bring it On was the changing of the freak girl into one of THEM. She ruled so much as the pissy cool bitch who totally hated everyone. Argh.

Fo sheez,

Well, he'd be drunk, so saying "Martin" would make sense.

I wish my school would have a "horror movie day." Why? Because me, my friend Kurt, and this kid named Alex would all be zombies, whereas everybody else would be your standard Anne Rice pussy-ass vampire or the ghost-face killer from the Scream series.

School spirit blows. I wish my school would at least try to show more spirit other than "hey, we have posters! GO LOSING FOOTBALL TEAM, GO~!"
