Guest PlatypusFool Posted March 1, 2002 Report Posted March 1, 2002 Here's the deal - I have a friend, relatively new to wrestling, who loves Booker T and wants to see some his stuff before he arrived in the WWF. So I need you all to contribute to a list of his best matches before coming under the thumb of Vince, from his Harlem Heat days to the final matches in WCW history. Also, if you've got them, any links to reviews of the matches you suggest might be nice too. Thanks a lot!
Guest Some Guy Posted March 1, 2002 Report Posted March 1, 2002 His best of 7 (really 9 I think) with Benoit from 97 or 98. I liked almost all of his TV title work with Martel, Saturn, Disco, Eddy etc.. Check out the early 98 WCW PPVs (Superbrawl 8, Uncensored, Spring Stampede, GAB, BATB) for his best work IMO. This was his first singles push and before the knee injuries. His 1st world title win at BATB 2000 against Jarrett was good as well as some of his stuff against Scott Steiner.
Guest PlatypusFool Posted March 1, 2002 Report Posted March 1, 2002 Thanks Some Guy, but I need specific matches with dates. Best of seven against Benoit was all well and good, but I don't want all seven matches on a compilation, so which ones were best?
Guest Tony149 Posted March 1, 2002 Report Posted March 1, 2002 The Benoit/Booker T "Best of 7 series" happened in early 1998. All of their matches were excellent.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted March 1, 2002 Report Posted March 1, 2002 My favourite was Match 7 (of 8). It occurred on Thunder June 11, 1998.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted March 1, 2002 Report Posted March 1, 2002 You also should check out his back-to-back matches against Rick Martel & Perry Saturn at Superbrawl 1998. Sting & Booker vs. Road Warriors at Uncensored 1996 is a decent brawl. I can't think of many Harlem Heat matches that I liked. Booker was good, but his opponents usually weren't and his brother was useless as well.
Guest Big Poppa Smurf Posted March 1, 2002 Report Posted March 1, 2002 Those Booker/Martel matches were surprisingly good. I didn't think Martel had anything left to give but he held his own.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted March 1, 2002 Report Posted March 1, 2002 yeah where's martel now, anyone know?
Guest dreamer420 Posted March 1, 2002 Report Posted March 1, 2002 I think he blew out his knee in WCW and had to reture because of it. Too bad really because he was always pretty talented.
Guest goodhelmet Posted March 1, 2002 Report Posted March 1, 2002 Martel was forced to retire because of his knee injury. he's probably at home thinking about tom zenk. Booker's match against Scott Steiner at the last Nitro was surprisingly watchable. His series with Benoit was off the charts and really sold me on Booker. Don't know the dates. Sorry.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted March 1, 2002 Report Posted March 1, 2002 yeah the benoit series is why i like booker t that and anyone who could put up with having stevie ray as thier brother is amazing.
Guest goodhelmet Posted March 1, 2002 Report Posted March 1, 2002 yeah, there is not one harlem Heat match I remember being any good and i blame it all on Stevie Ray's sorry fruity booty ass. how they won a 100 tag titles, I'll never know. Avoid harlem heat matches. It's not worth the time. Stevie Ray makes Test look like Ricky Steamboat.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted March 1, 2002 Report Posted March 1, 2002 they won all those world tittles because ted turner liked how stevie ray talked, it made him feel superior, that's why i'm shocked JR isn't pushing for stevie ray to be a new commentator.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted March 1, 2002 Report Posted March 1, 2002 You can check the dates at ddtdigest.com. Just go to June 1998.
