Bubba's concussion

Jericho's bulldog off the ladder apparently gave Bubba Ray Dudley his concussion. At least that's what I'd say, Jericho lept off and Bubba took it like a King driving his head right into the mat. It wasn't Jericho's fault, although it may be made out that way, but I just was wondering why the hell Bubba would intentionally kill himself with that move? Does everyone remember what I'm talking about?

I saw that, I freaked like a 70's pimp when I saw it. Why would Bubba kill himself on that? Well, maybe it was an accident.. it's been known to happen, even when both wrestlers are top notch performers.

It really sucks that the bad flow and sloppiness of the match makes the audience forget every bump after it's done. Matches like these where multiple bumps occur just take away from the awe of any bump and just serve to deteriorate crowd reaction altogether.

It is bad. What makes it worse is that the slow WWE style which is mainly punch-kick-sloppy-austin only gets stronger from these injuries.

Slow pace is reinforced.

Weak spots are reinforced.

The hosses are reinforced.

TLC matches are chock full of action and make an exciting main event, but the element of danger is left far in the back of the mind when every wrestler is taking a serious bump or another.

i'm pretty sure it was a timing mistake of bubba's landing. you're supposed to land flat while taking a front bump like that, you're not supposed to let your face take the impact before the rest of your body hits the mat. he obviously didn't have proper control of his landing. i remember noticing it last night and thinking "oh fuck, he took that on his FACE!" and i'm not surprised that it gave him a concussion.

You have to give it up to Bubba though, working TLC 4 with a pinched nerve.

Yeah I know Bubba has gotten a bad rap on this board recently cause of his push against HHH, but the one thing I have always given that guy is his work ethic. If you've seen his career at any length, he busted his ass every night in ECW and whenever given the chance in the WWF/E he's worked as hard as they have let him.

Anybody remember when D-Von took a Matt Hardy neckbreaker off the ladders face-first in Smackdown's TLC 3? I seriously couldn't tell if the twitching was selling or not because he got out of that ring FAST and even the ref looked a bit concerned. I think that one was worse than Bubba's Raw bump, but that's not taking away from the fact that Bubba still took a face bump.

YES! That was seriously sick to watch and I remember being legitimately concerned for D'Von.

Actually, with Jericho so close to the stairs and holding his head, I thought he'd hit them.

And this is why that match was terrible.

Seven guys worked a pretty entertaining match it's true (barring the end but it was technically over by then) but for what?

I'm sure Vince was trying to spike the ratings. I'm surprised he didn't replace the cell match with a HIAC match, and if there wasn't supposed to be another one so soon, I'll bet he would have. He'dve said "Hey, Jeff, you wanna be a star, make Mick Foley look tame tonight." And you'dve had two incredibly dangerous matches in one night with no build, and no payoff. As it is, I doubt it would spike the ratings, and frankly there were too many sick bumps for a match that elevated nothing.

Ultimately I think the danger level was too high for a televised impromtu matchup. I know most injuries occur during regular matches, but on the other hand there's many more of them. Didn't Christ Benoit get his neck injured during TLC3? I'm sure the standard TLC bumbs are a degree more dangerous than the standard match bumps. There's a time and a place for sure, but gimmicks like this should be once a year.

I agree. For a 300+ lb guy, he bumps like a motherfucker and isn't afraid to work hard to put on a good match.

I remember in TLC3, Buh Buh took that bulldog from the ladder bump too. I never really liked Buh Buh's wrestlings, but his "Bubbatuff" is really gaining some respect from me. But I think the sickest bump was during Smackdown Extreme, the Table match between The Dudleyz and The Hardyz. They set up 2 tables on the outside and Matt and D-Von climbed the ladder on the oustide right beside the ring. They were trying to do the spot where in Wrestlemania X-7, Buh Buh Ray and Matt got pushed off the ladder through 4 tables on the outside. However, this time, when the ladder was pushed, D-Von and Matt Hardy weren't close enough to the tables, so both of them hit there head and neck on the first table only. I was scared for Matt and D-Von condition after this spot.

I think the Ref threw his arms in the "X" position after that bump too. That was scary. I thought he hit the steps until they showed the replay.

btw, my favorite "TLC Bump" was Edge spearing Jeff from the top of the ladder , WM17. Love that spot.

I watched this match last night and had one thought: Why didn't Bubba place his hands and arms out to take the brunt of that face bump (bulldog)? While he and Jericho were in mid flight, Bubba tipped his head forward. That's not how you take a face bump.

I hope Bubba returns soon. I just love him. He's a cutie.

Buh Buh has always just gone face-first for his bulldog bumps. Ever watch him vs. Spike or someone else who does a bulldog, and Buh Buh has always taken that bump that way. It's just that he usually doesn't take it from that height.

Oh okay. Makes sense then why he did it Monday that way.

Yeah, Buh Buh's pretty psychotic when it comes to bumping. He flats it every time and won't break his falls for the most part part. I am a big fan of Buh Buh, but I don't think he's quite ready for the main event (though I do think he will be relatively soon) and he needs to use the Bubba Cutter or a powerbomb as his finisher. As much as I love the Ass Driver, I can't see someone actually winning a match with it.

that's probably Bubba's biggest asset, not only will he take any bump, he'll make even the shitty ones look painful. And when he takes a big one, well, you think he's dead. That bulldog was fuckin hideous. When they were setting up I thought of moves Jericho could do off a lader, and I figured the bulldog would be way too dangerous. (maybe I was right  )

if he's so intent on using the bubba drop, maybe he should do it from the top rope or something. But yeah, the Buh Buh cutter would make for a better finisher.
