Hotline Servers, Anyone?

Just wonderin', does anyone here have a hotline server? I just started using hotline and connected to "The Hulksters" server, and downloaded some great, great matches. ( I love Low Ki vs. Christopher Daniels vs. American Dragon from the first Ring of Honour Show).

I think Manson has one, Muzz. I'm not sure, but I think he does.

I do. But it's mostly stuff that all the other servers have anyway, and it's not much at that, due to my small hd.

The link in my sig leads to a match list, with everything I have, give or take a few things.

I haven't even kept it open lately, but since it came up today, I'll keep the server open all day, for anyone who wants something.

I don't want to sound like a dumb ass. But what exactly is Hotline and how do you use it?

There's nothing dumb about not knowing what a Hotline server is... it is for one of the many file-sharing programs out there. I had never heard of Hotline until last summer.

The servers that these WF/JLers are looking for host various wrestling videos, from here and around the world. I'd download them, but my computer is as slow as nutscrape.

Hotline is a file-sharing program, much like KaZaA and the like. Close, but not exactly the same, in that most servers don't have as big of a user base. Users download a Hotline Client, and use the client to connect to personalized Hotline Servers, set-up by willing users who have a number of files they'd like to share with others. Downloading isn't complicated at all, and I find it faster when compared to other programs.

You can d/l Hotline at http://www.bigredh.com , but if that doesn't work, go to http://www.tucows.com/preview/193834.html.

Any spyware? Is downloading wrestling matches legal? I mean, it's not like movies and MP3s.

No, downloading wrestling matches is not legal, and no, I don't believe there's any spyware. Don't quote me on that though

Actually, it's JUST like movies and mp3s. Even fancams are the direct analog of bootlegs.

What kind of Legal Action can be taken? Fines, fees, jail time?

On the subject (sorta) does anyone know what happened to the Wrestlinglive hub on DC? I hadn't tried to get on today for the first time in months, and it asked me for a password...

Are there any other DC hubs out there?

No spyware in Hotline.

As for match downloading being legal... Well, that's another story, as all this stuff is copyrighted material. But everyone else does it, so you'll be in with the cool crowd if you do, just like drinking and smoking.

Theoretically, you could probably get fined or something like that. But aside from a fed like the WWE asking a few people to shut sites down because they were sharing copyrighted content, they've never actually gone after anyone. Don't worry about it, I don't.

Can anyone post or post a link to a link with wrestling servers?

There are a few scattered about, but not very many. I wouldn't get my hopes up for them.

Does anyone know where I can find more servers or resources where I might find some? Specificly OVW, ECW, and WCW? I've ran quite a few searches under google and go.com.

Jack, the Hotline Server is like the clitoris... elusive, you're lucky to find it, and once you do you do your damnedest to remember it.

I just use TheHulkster's right now because all my favorites have shut down.

Tom, that may be the greatest quote ever.

...

It probably isn't, of course...but it might be.

Does anyone know if there's a good channel on irc for wrestling matches?

Posted

I've putzed around on IRC for matches, Jack, and most of the places suck. Most of us do our trading in the IGNWF chat room, using the script.

Now someone needs to make a 'wrestlecrap' server. I've been DYING to get my hands on a copy of the whole Se7en fiasco...
