Guest Daredevil21 Report post Posted October 10, 2002 I really dislike these "Best of" or special themed DVD releases for TV shows. Season box sets is in my opinion, the only way to go. You figure that most of the people who buy a DVD of a TV is probably a fan and therefore, would shell out the extra money for the season box sets. I dislike it even when they release a season disc by disc. It's like, why not just put the whole season out, instead of by volumes? That takes too long and besides, the box sets always look cooler in terms of display. The idea of the "best of" DVDs is simply to gauge interest in a particular TV show. Case in point: Friends and Transformers. Had the "trial" DVDs not sold decently, you can bet that they would never have come out with season sets. After all, the idea of the DVDs is to make money, and it costs a hell of a lot less to make one 3-hour disc than to create a 4 disc, full season set. Well, that's why I mentioned that it would be a nice fix for fans while they waited for the possible season box sets that could follow. I understand what you mean, but I guess I was referring more to the TV shows that have been put on Best of DVD's only and no box sets have come since then. Warner had released several Season box sets in U.K. and then came out with a best of disc in the U.S. Producing bonuses might cost some money, but the cost of literally making the disc is a fraction of what they charge.
