"- Is it bad that every time I see Dina Meyer I think of Starship Troopers?"

If you are talking about her shower scene from the movie then no, no it is not a bad thing to think about.

Yep, the shower scene. Ain't nothin' wrong with wet, soapy, nekkid women...

The CGI scenes really have to go. At least when they are CGIing a person. Just do some blue screen or something to show her jumping rooftops. It worked in the Matrix just fine. It didn't work at ALL in Spiderman. So why did they try it again, this time with 1/99th of the budget?

The meta-human thing is getting out of control. If it was only a couple of people like that it's one thing. If Huntress was only a meta because they're going to use the Batman Returns Catwoman story line to set that up that's fine. If Dinah has some telepathic powers, that's fine. But good lord, enough already. It seems like more people in Gotham than not have some kind of power. It's just like friggin Smallville where every other person in this little tiny town has some sort of power. It's getting way too Mutant X-ish. I hope they tone it down after this episode.

Those clock tower happy music endings are already old too. It's just like Smallville again. 99% of the time Smallville ends with Clark and Lana sitting in his barn talking why some poppy crap plays them out to the credits. Now Birds does the same thing except on the balcony.

I've always liked Dina since seeing her Starship Troopers. I don't see why it took so long for people to figure out she was born to play Batgirl. Every movie I saw her in I was like damn, why the hell did they cast Alicia Silverstone? Of course I'm happy Dina didn't have to go through the hell of being in that thing.

Glad about the Biff Naked thing too cause I had no idea she had put anything new out yet. Now I do.

I had the same thought about the black cop thing. I kept wondering why she didn't just point that out. Hey...YOU'RE BLACK! You've experienced this too! But I guess that wouldn't be PC to actually admit that a black character is black.

So, if it's only been 7 years since Batman left, why doesn't anybody remember him? And why no mention of Gordon yet?

Kathleen Robertson and Gretchen Mol should've signed on to do this show instead of that crap "Girls Club" on FOX. I think it'd be that much better.

I'm sorry but I'm not as big of a Dina Meyer fan as everyone else here seems to be. Her shower scene in Starship Troopers wasn't THAT great.

But to a bunch of horny 14-year-olds, any revealed "breast-age", I'm sure, is enough to make you all fans for life.

This seems to be a recurring thing with the superhero stories, with a bunch of outcasts and whatnot. I will say that it makes more sense here than it does in Smallville. I mean, Smallville is a little hick town in Kansas, while New Gotham is the Big City. You SHOULD have more metas there. Just not to the extent that they do.

Those clock tower happy music endings are already old too.  It's just like Smallville again.  99% of the time Smallville ends with Clark and Lana sitting in his barn talking why some poppy crap plays them out to the credits.  Now Birds does the same thing except on the balcony.

Can we somehow blame Dawson's Creek for this? Happy music has a time and a place. A superhero drama isn't it - you might as well go with the Scooby-Doo ending if you're gonna play happy music.

It's quite simple, really - they went with the stunt casting instead of spending less money on lesser-known actors and more money on, oh, I don't know, CRAFTING A DECENT STORY.

Glad about the Biff Naked thing too cause I had no idea she had put anything new out yet.  Now I do.

I don't think she ever put out "Leader" as a single, but her album ("Purge") has been out for about 2 years in Canada. Her first single, "I Love Myself Today", is currently getting play in GM TV ads, and "Tango Shoes" was recently getting "medium" rotation on Much.

So, if it's only been 7 years since Batman left, why doesn't anybody remember him?  And why no mention of Gordon yet?

One of the Batman variations is that noone has really seen him save for criminals, Gordon and a few others. I suppose they're using this tack, meaning that for most people The Batman remains an urban legend.

I dunno about Gretchen, but if they can use Robertson somehow then I'd be all for it.

I never said it was. But if you show some naked women in a shower, I'm definitely not gonna complain. Hard to find guys that will complain much about cratuitous nudity.

Geez, how did you know that I'm still a big fan of Phobe Cates?

"Geez, how did you know that I'm still a big fan of Phobe Cates?"

Phoebe in "Paradise" was a good thing. She had a *body* on her back in the day and that waterfall scene with her is imbedded in my mind forever.

Phoebe was smokin in that movie.

Yeah, I'm more a fan of Kathleen Robertson than Gretchen Mol. Hated Gretchen in "Rounders"; loved Robertson in "Nowhere".

And most people equate Phoebe Cates nudeness with "Fast Times at Ridgemont High".

I feel like a piece of party-pooping shit saying this, but it really looked like they used a body double in Paradise, I don't think that was the real Phoebe.

A related thought: if I remember correctly, the same woman who wrote Fast Times also wrote Clueless, and said that is was basically the same movie for the next generation. If that was so, then why the HELL didn't Silverstone get nekkid in that one?

"Think" being the key word there boyo. In and interview with Entertainment Tonight in April of '82, Phoebe was asked if she had a stunt double act in her nude scene and Phoebe said she did *not* have a stunt double for those scenes and that it was her in all her glory.

If she doesn't have a problem taking off her top to reveal her luscious tits in Ridgemont then I doubt she had a problem earlier on when she did "Paradise."

Phoebe had a great body back in the day and she knew how to use it. I chalk Phoebe up there with eye candy like Shannon Elizabeth who have gone down the same route as Phoebe did in the '80's with her being the hot bitch that everyone wants to bone. It is not like that is a bad thing because sometimes the movie calls for such a role and there needs to be someone to fill it. Phoebe knew he strengths and weaknesses and she played off each of them. Elizabeth on the other hand wants to become a serious actress, which she has stated several times in the past. If she thought that her role in "13 Ghosts" was good enough to have people consider her as a multi-dimensional actress then she is nuttier than squirrel shit.

Just watched the series for the first time tonight. A few thoughts:

Huntress is stupid. And she's a bad actress too. Or maybe it's just the dialogue, I don't know.

The high school outcast thing has already been done with Buffy, and done far better. Actually, someone earlier said they were trying for Buffy humour and failing, and I must agree.

What was up with channeling X-Men? The whole meta-human thing seems exactly like mutants. I mean, why couldn't it just be very few meta-humans who are super heroes or villians? At least that would have been a little different. Of course, I'm not all that well versed in comics, so maybe mutants are just a rip-off of metahumans.

So from tonights ep, this show wasn't very good. It was frustrating because a show like this seems to have a lot of potential.

Well, metahuman was used by DC to distinguish themselves from Marvel, which uses as you've noticed uses mutant and "enhanced" human as phrases to describe their heroes and villains. In other words, same shit, different trademark.

And speaking of acting, model-slash-"actress" Sung Hi Lee is gonna appear as a villainess on the show. I don't know if this will actually improve the quality of the acting or anything, but it won't hurt the "look" of the show...

When Marv Wolfman came to DC in early 1980 after he had a falling out with Marvel, he came up with the wole Metahuman idea which *is* a rip off of the Mutant characters that Marvel came up with.

Marvel would love to sue DC's ass off for misuse of the word and dipiction of it in regards to one of Marvel's Mutants.

**EDIT**

Oh and the chick that plays the Huntress is a painfully bad actress with no stable or emotional facial actions.

We just met Keanu Reeves long lost sister.

Ha. I was gonna say the same damn thing. She's gonna be playing Lady Shiva. And the KGBeast is rumored to be the villain for the episode after that but it's not 100% confirmed yet.

I'm not a big fan of blondes but I would make an exception to Jamie any day. I like a chick with a sense of humor to her that can brighten up a room.

Sung Hi Lee is good enough of a reason for me to keep watching the show.

I just wish they'd gotten Patricia Lee (Power Rangers Turbo/in Space) to play Shiva, as Sung Hi doesn't really seem like someone you should (or could) fear.

*comic geek alert*

Shiva was/is an enemy of Batman's and would be old as fuck if she was to face off against Helena.

I don't expect this issue to be addressed in the show but I felt like throwing it out.

I think the Power Rangers did in a lot of the actors/actresses that starred in it. I mean, has anyone seen Billy the blue Ranger anywhere recently?

Nope. He was my favorite, too.

I think the most successful Ranger was the original Pink Ranger (Kimberly?) who went onto to star in Felicity. That's pretty sad.

Actually the episode is supposed to be about Shiva coming after Barbara and not Huntress. And it might be the first time that Barbara uses the technology to allow her to walk that she mentioned a couple episodes ago to fight her. There's supposed to be more flashbacks to the past between Batgirl and Shiva to set it up.

My Mom watched tonight's show and her response was, "why don't they give that kid a sleeping pill and hurry up and kill his ass?"

Kinda sad, but then it's kinda like actors in the Peter Engel shows - they kinda disappear.

Talk about pandering.

Babs is and always has been a cripple ever since the Joker shot her. It is what makes her unique amongst a world of super beings. Now that is being spit on for a possible one shot deal in order to gain a ratings bump.

The show is supposed to be about Oracle giving out info and Huntress cracking the skulls. I don't see why the Huntress can't have a shot at Shiva since Babs and her have already gone at it.

I know. While I do think it would be fun for one day this to happen. I think this is WAY too early. She should have to work for a while to make this contraption. Not mention it one episode and then have it work 4 eps later. If she walks it should happen on the very last show of the series. Of course the episode hasn't been shot yet so I hope it won't make the final product. Kinda doubt it will. Hopefully they're smarter than THAT.
