Guest Leena Report post Posted October 11, 2002 I've already received an overwhelming amount of e-mail on my column, but you can also respond here. Thanks.
Guest Sassquatch Report post Posted October 11, 2002 "For those uneducated wrestling fans, Thunder was WCW’s equivalent of Smackdown. Thunder began the 1st week of 1998, and ran until WCW’s dying days in March 2001. Thunder was on TBS every Wednesday and Thursday night, and seemingly was pre-empted by Braves games every week. It got quite low ratings since it began when WCW was starting to get its ass kicked by WWF in the ratings." - Alina Thunder's ratings in its first couple months were about as high/higher than WWF RAW's ratings. Thunder ratings went down the gutter right around the time that RAW was starting to get the edge on Nitro in the ratings, which was on 4/13/98. RAW beat Nitro on a consistent basis after the week of 10/26/98. From then on, the show was a zombie-walking piece of worthless shit. "Well, no free advertising here for NWA/TNA! Fuck you, smarks! WWE all da way!! HHH rulz!!! Stefenee haz b000byz!!!1 Don’t deny it, kiddies. This is the way it is. Remember, it’s not my fault, it’s WCW Thunder’s fault." - Alina I laughed at this part of your rant Alina. I'm not sure how long you have been a fan of wrestling but you seem to know what you are talking about. Good review and I hope you keep up the good work. Guest Leena Report post Posted October 11, 2002 WCW's ratings did start to dip around the end of '97 though.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted October 11, 2002 I thought it was quite good, Alina. It takes dedication to stick with a crappy product like Thunder long enough to write an informed, complete review of it. I'm not sure I could have done it without being uber-bitter before the end, so I'll certainly give you props for that.
Guest Leena Report post Posted October 11, 2002 Oh, I was bitter. I get bitter rather easily, if you haven't noticed.
Guest Sassquatch Report post Posted October 11, 2002 Nitro was beating RAW at the end of '97 by either a full ratings point or by two full ratings points. The ratings were starting to show some stability by the time that No Way Out '98 rolled around but again, this was the Road to Wrestlemania time and the interest levels would be higher at this time rather then in the month of some other WWF PPV. Vince had every right to not check out the ratings the night after RAW was over through '96 to the middle of '98. He was getting his ass handed to him by WCW and he was just clueless as to how to stop the decline. Funny how the WWF is in the same position currently that they were about 5/6 years ago. Guest J*ingus Report post Posted October 11, 2002 I'm tired, so, the short version of my review: Thunder sucks, Alina rules, the end.
Guest KingOfOldSchool Report post Posted October 11, 2002 Yeah. It was something like the middle of '98 when the WWF began to get back on top. Funny how the WWF is in the same position currently that they were about 5/6 years ago. And the sad thing is, it's not even another company that's sticking it to the WWE this time around. A nice piece of work Alina, I don't think I'd have the patience to play Thunder again, much less review it. And I loved the DJ Jeff dig. Although, I was stupid enough to rent it for a weekend a few years ago when it first came out. But I only checked out the rants, fooled around with the stable affiliations. I tried unlocking everyone, but gave up on it when I got pissed off with the game.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted October 11, 2002 , I was bitter. I get bitter rather easily, if you haven't noticed. Yes, I've noticed. What I mean is, you were pretty composed about it. Having to play Thunder for a while is bad enough, but to then have to sit down and write about the experience... ugh. I think I would have gone on a profanity-laced tirade or three out of sheer frustration. You didn't, and that's good.

Guest Kinetic Report post Posted October 12, 2002 If I was a female, do you think I'd get more feedback? Or should I offer to put the best letter in my next article like you did? I'm just curious because my dozen or so efforts at The Smart Marks have inspired a grand total of two (2) pieces of actual mailed feedback. From people not affiliated with the site, that is. The latest one came from our board friend TakerGirlLA who wrote the following: Danny, You are hysterical. Keep up the good work. [/feedback] Pretty sweet, huh? Guest Leena Report post Posted October 12, 2002 I don't think anyone at this site has gotten much feedback. I really didn't get any, but it's better to say that you do because people will respond here.

Guest Flyboy Report post Posted October 12, 2002 Are you complaining for getting feedback, Rant? Or were you just saying...?
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted October 12, 2002 But, as others have pointed out, just because you're not getting feedback doesn't mean no one's reading. I read stuff online all of the time and have never sent one bit of feedback to anyone. Ever. Still, I often feel like I'm just writing this stuff to entertain myself and a few people I converse with here.
Guest Leena Report post Posted October 12, 2002 I know WCW Thunder is a topic so many wanted to read about, though.
Guest Incandenza Report post Posted October 12, 2002 Kinetic isn't being entirely truthful. The column I wrote on Andrew W.K. managed to raise his ire enough to write me at my TSM account. Other than that oversight, he's right.
