Guest nWoScorpion Report post Posted October 11, 2002 WWF MARCH TOO WRESTLEMANIA IX Original Airdate: March 1993 - Show opens with highlights of Yokozuna/Bret Hart contract signing from WWF superstars, where Yokozuna laid a beating on the Hitman, only for him to keep coming back for more. -Your Hosts are Vince Mcmahon & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan. -Opening Match: "Macho Man" Randy Savage Vs. Yokozuna (w/ Mr. Fuji): Did Yokozuna compete in the first match at every Video and MNR in the beginning of 1993!?! Third show I'm reviewing from 1993 and he's opened all three. Yokozuna can't catch Savage but a lockup is in Yokozuna's favor. Side headlock by Savage but he goes down by a shoulder-block, and Yokozuna with some karate chops then tosses him over the top rope to the floor. Savage eats a LOT of steel and Yokozuna continues the beatings. Savage fights back with jabs and roundhouse rights but a chop by Yokozuna puts him back down. Slam by Yokozuna and he nails he leg drop! He chokes Savage in the corner but misses the back splash in the corner. Savage to the top rope with a double axhandle smash. He goes for another but Fuji knocks him off with the flag and Yokozuna nails a belly to belly suplex for 3 at 6:35. BOO! *. Savage avoids the banzai drop and sends Yokozuna packing after the match to the delight of the crowd. - Highlights of Bobby Heenan unavailing "The Narcissist" Lex Luger at the 1993 Royal Rumble PPV, followed by him knocking people out with his running forearm smash, which was later revealed he had a steel plate in it. - Mr. Perfect Vs. Skinner: Perfect throws his towel at Skinner so in retaliation he ambushes Mr. Perfect, and then throws him over the top rope to the floor. On the floor Skinner bites Perfect and sends him into the steel steps. Skinner eats steel now and Mr. Perfect sends him into the ring post. Skinner clothesline Perfect with his belt and whips him with it afterwards. Its Alphonso refereeing so its legal I guess. Perfect with a hard right but Skinner keep putting the boots to him and connects with a back elbow, then bites him again. Headlock and punch by Skinner, then he chokes him across the top rope and kicks him in the head a few times. More choking by Skinner and Mr. P fights back, but an eye rake ends his offense again. More raking of the eyes across the top rope, he misses a charge and crotches himself on the buckle. Atomic Drop by Mr. Perfect and a series of knife edge chops and 10 punches of doom. Fist to the midsection and running knee lift from Perfect, followed by the neck snap. Perfect lays into skinner more and hammers across his chest then chokes him himself with his foot. Skinner rakes the eyes again but gets caught with a Perfect-Plex for the Perfect win at 5:28. **1/2. Not too bad for 5 minutes. - Wrestlemania IX Hotline! Call 1-900-909-9939 (too much emphases on the number "9" I think). - Wrestlemania IX commercial with footage of Hulk Hogan. - Kamala (w/ Rev. Slick) Vs. Kim Chee: Kim Chee punches away weakly on Kamala for a little bit. Kamala starts getting mad, and chops him in the head and connects with a crescent kick and applies a bearhug. Throat Thrust and crescent kick by Kamala. slam & Cannon ball splash into the back of Chee, but Kamala is pinning his back! Slick gets the crowd to tell him to turn Kim Chee over, but he does it too much. he finally does it right for the win at 2:11. Slick afterwards does some jiving with Kim Chee's helmet on, reminding fans of his pimp days. DUD. - Wrestlemania IX Music Video!!!!! For some reason this has a catchy tune no matter how stupid the song & video is. Duggan, Boss Man, Tatanka, Nasty Boys and Bret Hart are the main focuses in the video. GREAT, this song is stuck in my head, replacing Girls in Cars (thankfully). - Highlights of Money Inc. smashing Brutus Beefcake in the face with the steel briefcase, at the same time, Jimmy Hart turned face in the process of protecting Beefcake. Also, on the next Raw, Hogan returned announcing his match against Money Inc. at Wrestlemania IX. Hogan calls Dibiase the Multi Million Dollar Man. - Non-Title Match: Money Inc. © Vs. Jerry Sabin & Reno Riggins: IRS makes fun as usual of everyone. IRS throws Sabin to the outside and Dibiase slams him into the ring steps and chops him up. Riggins tags in and is wearing gay ring tights and Money Inc. beat him up. Dibiase in with some meager offense and chops. Money Inc. punch away at Riggins and Dibiase with a suplex. IRS with his own suplex and elbow drop. Million Dollar Dream ends Riggins night at 2:56. DUD. Without much trouble Money Inc. win the match. - Highlights of Tatanka Vs. Shawn Michaels in a non title match on superstars, where Tatanka got the pinfall, then again on a Monday Night Raw 6 man tag team match. Tatanka then challenged Shawn Michaels to the IC Title at Wrestlemania IX. - Shawn Michaels promo in front of the Las Vegas screen. He wasn't God yet. - Tatanka Vs. George South: Total Squash here. Tatanka puts away the hick jobber with the fallaway slam (AKA Samoan drop) at 3:16. DUD Shawn Michaels comes out afterwards and offers a fight now, but instead he balks and Tatanka has to wait until Wrestlemania IX. - Wrestlemania IX Report!! Sunday, April 4, 1993 4 P. M ET. Double Main Event! Bret Hart Vs. Yokozuna for the WWF World Title, and Money Inc. Vs. Mega Maniacs for the World Tag Team Titles. Also, Shawn Michaels Vs. Tatanka for the Intercontinental Title, Steiner Brothers Vs. Head Shrinkers, Crush Vs. Doink The Clown, The Undertaker Vs. Giant Gonzalez, Lex Luger Vs. Mr. Perfect, Kamala Vs. Bam Bam Bigelow, and Razor Ramon Vs. Bob Backlund! - The Bushwhackers & Tiger Jackson Vs. Beverly Brothers & Little Louie: No Way I am reviewing this garbage. Comedy match all the way with Bobby Heenan throwing insults at the midgets. He says "Look what happens when you stop working out" and then said "I thought Little Louie was hillbilly Jim." Heenan then says he could use Tiger Jackson to clean under his couch, then makes fun of his teeth. Jackson would later be known as Dink the Clown. Heenan warns Vince to not touch Tiger Jackson. He says its a shame he's smarter then The Bushwhackers, calling him a half wit. He loves baseball, he loves playing....short stop. HA HA! He probably feels like he;s 3'0" tall. Tiger Jackson's head looks like a casu. Little Louie would be known as Queasy by the way. Heenan says the Bushwhackers would eat your garbage. Tiger Jackson pins Little Louie to end this nonsense at 9:55. -***. Horrible. Heenan calls them the 3 Stooges. More short jokes by Heenan. - Highlights of Giant Gonzalez attacking The Undertaker at the 1993 Royal Rumble, and gives the absolute WORST promo ever. - The Undertaker (w/ Paul Bearer) Vs. Bam Bam Bigelow: Bigelow starts off with hard roundhouse rights but he runs into a drop toe hold and Undertaker pulls on his face. Bigelow back in the ring and he hammers away on The Undertaker. DDT by Undertaker turns the tide and he chokes him in the corner. Undertaker walks the rope and drops the clothesline as usual. Undertaker with a series of clotheslines but Bigelow dodges a flying lariat. Back from commercial and Bigelow lays a beat down on the outside, posting the Undertaker several times. Suplex by Bigelow has no affect, so he slams him, and it still doesn't hurt him. Bigelow with another slam and headbutt puts Taker down for only a few seconds. Bigelow finally keeps Undertaker on the mat and goes upstairs. He goes for the Diving Headbutt but Undertaker site up out of the way!!! Flying clothesline connects and Undertaker nails a chokeslam. Bigelow walks off for the count-out at 7:45. 1/2* Wasn't too bad but a cop-ending really didn't matter since Bigelow/Kamala was scrapped from the card. Giant Gonzalez shows up then walks off. How exciting. - Bret "Hitman" Hart RESPECT video. Well, we are assured of a new Bret Hart video every year. FINAL ANALYSIS: It's the build up show so it doesn't need to be really good, but damn, this show really dragged. Perfect/Skinner was the only good match, and some comedy in the 6 man match but overall the show stank. Thumbs Down.
