Guest KANE Report post Posted October 11, 2002 Timesplitters 2 is a sequel to what's been called an average first person shooter. It featured a dull main game, but what put it on the map (supposedly), was its great multiplayer deathmatching, complete with a "create an arena" option. Now, I've never played the first one, but I'm buying the hype for TS2, and will probably get it. First of all, the guys that made Goldeneye made this game. The story mode has supposedly been made good (with a 2 player co-op option), and for multiplayer, there are loads of match types, and supports 4 players and 10 bots at once. The "map maker" has also come back, except this time, you can make both multiplayer maps and MISSION MAPS (kill this guy to get this key to open this door, then objective 1 is completed). Now I have a Cube and PS2, but I was wondering which system I should get it for. Here's some thoughts: 1. PS2 (and X-Box) will, I think, support I-Link and online play. Cube won't. Is playing against humans that much better than playing A.I? (Of course, to experience that, I'd actually have to buy a PS2 modem) 2. Cube at least won't cost me money for a multitap to get 4 player matches going. Plus, I usually like the look of Cube games better when something is on both systems. 3. Another thought is on memory card management in "map maker." Some of these maps could eat up huge chunks of memory cards. I haven't heard any stats on how many blocks/kilobytes a map eats up. What manages better? 4. Do you think I'd need to get the original to know what's going on in the sequel, or should I just skip that one? I know this sounds more like a commercial for the game than inquiry, but I just want to know what people know about it, and about comparing the game between platforms. Guest El Psycho Diablo Report post Posted October 11, 2002 Well..naturally.. If you have the Xbox, get that version. You don't have to worry about mem cards, and the graphics should be the sharpest of the bunch.
Guest Insane Bump Machine Report post Posted October 11, 2002 the PS2 version does NOT support online play or I-Link. Only split screen. The PS2 controller is much better suited for these kind of games than the GCN controller. There isn't much of a difference graphics-wise, so I recommend the PS2 version. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted October 11, 2002 That last post is contradicted by every preview I have ever read about TS2. They all say that the GC controller is the best fit and was "Tailor made" for the game. I had preordered the PS2 version...but then it went offline so I switched it to the GC, since the GC and XBox version are said to have sharper graphics than the PS2 version.
