There's a terrorist camp named Faarooq?

WWE decided to drop the name of Faarooq in favor of Ron Simmons recently. The reason for this was because the Al Queda terrorist group has a camp called All Faarooq. Once WWE learned of this, they decided to change the name to avoid any possible association with the terrorist group.

Why was he Faarooq anyways. It was fine when he was in the NOD. But know Ron Simmons is better suited.

Oh. That explains it. I was wondering why he was just "Ron Simmons" out of the blue.

Yeah, I thought Farooq was a dumb name anyway.

Speaking of stupid names, what was the deal with the APA? I mean an acolyte is a follower of someone, so why were they taking money to protect people? And the logo as seen here:

is suppossed to mean what? Acolyte Protection Agency Protection?

Its just somethng thats always bothered me.

Faarooq was a mangling of the name 'Farouk', Farouk was the name of the last king of Egypt.

Remember, he debuted as Faarooq Asad, the powder blue gladiator, Asad probably has some Arab/Terrorist-related ties as well

News of an Al Queda training camp called Faarooq came out at least 6 months ago. I remember hearing about it and thinking it was funny so I doubt the WWE just heard of it. Faarooq the wrestler was just stale, a heel turn and name change was needed, not that it makes him a better wrestler.

BTW RobE, is that Mattitude sig an official WWE logo?, if not it should be, it would be perfect for a Matt Hardy T-Shirt. It could be up there with the Jericho "Monday Night Jericho" t-shirts since comparisions between Matt Hardy version 1.0 and '98 Jericho are being made.

I haven't watched Smackdown lately, so this is the first I've heard of this. Still, it's a change for Faarooq to be using the Ron Simmons name. Does this make him a heel now?

Wow, that one piece of information is more interesting than the entire Angle/Benoit feud.

Atleast Benoit and Angle's meaningless filler fued makes better matches than 99% of the whole NA wrestling scene.

Ok, I thought I was the only person who remembered Farooq in the blue trunks and stupid head gear.

Well, it wasn't THAT long ago. I mean, come on, he fought Trish at Backlash this year.

Farooq Asad debuted in 1996 or 97. I bet many fans on this board weren't watching WWF then.

Yeah, but I actually like Jazz, and think she's somewhat good looking, so it wasn't really serious.
