Does it benefit NWA TNA to sign "name value" guys?

I don't watch NWA TNA because can't order PPVs, but it seems to me that signing guys that had a chance and failed in the WWF or WCW and pushing them isn't the best idea. Giving a guy like X-Pac a title isn't the best idea I would think of to help business. Let's look at why he was fired from WWF. He was fucking around and not jobbing to people. Do you think that singing him and pushing him because he was cool in 1998 is a good way to go? I can understand wanting name value, but signing B Team guys whose stars have burnt out doesn't seem like the best idea to me.

I don't see much of a problem as long as it's handled well.

Also xpac can't really pull the shit he's been known to pull and expect to get away with it now. He doesn't have a Nash, HHH or HBK to back him up in TNA.

Actually, having X-Pac in the NWA:TNA would benefit X-Pac, since he could start from scratch so to speak. Plus, like El Satanico said, he doesn't have his buddies Nash, HHH, and HBK around, just Hall. On a side note, I like the fact that they have X-Pac and Hall as a team, at least, I think they're a team.

The only problem is that they've not signed a major name that makes the casual fan say, "Hey, I like him. I need to watch TNA." Until they do (which may be never), you're probably going to see more former WWE/WCW prospects showing up. Not that I mind, because WWE has passed over or released a lot of great talent.

Yeah, X-Pac has no stroke to exploit in the corridors of NWATNA.

Isn't he defending the X-title this week ?

Unless it spikes buy rates I don't see tghe point of having the big names...if they get just as many buys with X pac as they do without then why have him? He's comes with a hefty $$$ fee.

I need to get a core group of guys so fans can get use to them

another problem with the group as a whole is that they come across as indy. the myth has been exposed. there is no star quality on that show and the closest they came to creating a star is ron killings.

x-pac, hall, shamrock, double j. all have been in the big leagues and none of them have made a lasting impact on the business. the nwa is encountering the same thing the fed is finding out... star quality is natural and can't be manufactured. you can sell the t-shirts and print the posters BUT very few guys have had the star quality necessary to catupult a wrestling company. i don't see one guy in tna that fits the bill.

so to answer the question, why grab up has-beens and never-will-be's? the jarretts just need to pray that they stumble across someone who captures the imagination of its fans.

If NWA was on free TV, I think giving the belt to Waltman would be a good move. But, because only smarks watch NWA currently, it's a stupid move. Oh well.

The thing is, X-Pac can't start from scratch. He's there based on the fact that he was in the NWO and DX.
