Guest Jokir Report post Posted March 1, 2002 HURRICANE??? was the best gimmick/character you could think of? Keeping in mind that the topic is in ALL your time atching wrestling, I'd have to go with heel Jake 'the Snake' Roberts (although I became a huge fan when he turned face....give me a break I was like 10 at the time). Anyway, much better than a superhero gimmick, although it was good when he first started using the gimmick and was getting squashed by challenging big men to strenght competitions and the like. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted March 1, 2002 I don't cosider the snake thing to be a good enough gimmick. When I rate a gimmick I look at someone who has to change their entire style of wrestling to accomidate it. Undertaker is a good example...Even Doink is a good example (although a bad gimmick) Hurricane is funny...and it got Helms over (no small feat for a cruiser) Then they put him on Jakked. Guest Jokir Report post Posted March 1, 2002 ok good point, but it DOES say gimmick/character...so I think mine'd still stand up in a court of law. And I'll agree that the Hurricane thing did help Helms get over, but (and correct me if I'm wrong on this) most comedy type gimmicks usually end up hurting the actual person once the humour wears off, which is why Hurricane's on Jakked. yes here I am some punk with 8 posts to his name disagreeing with someone who's been around forever. No I feel bad. sorry
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted March 1, 2002 Comedy gimmicks are generally a bad thing...but they pulled the plug on him so quick that it didn't have a chance to hurt him yet. I'd assume he'd need a gimmick change before he could be seriously elavated...but at least people will know who he is now.
