Guest LaParkaMarka Report post Posted October 15, 2002 Three guys, all very over at one point. People hate(d) Rico, the man was a heat machine for Billy and Chuck and could have easily been elevated after his role in the rather big Wedding angle. Now he's jobbing to the Sucky Hardy. Hurricane was one of the most over guys in the Alliance and was getting massive face pops before he was buried. Then they brought him back and he was getting big face pops and eventually had a decent cruiser run, before being jobbed out again. Then he jumps to Raw and immediately gets the tag titles with Kane. So instead of elevating a proven commodity, he gets beaten up by Flair/HHH and doesn't even participate in the big TLC match. And, of course, he's the one that gets to job the titles. I'm starting to think the only reason they brought him to Raw was to have someone to tag with Kane and job if necessary. Go WWE. And I think the RVD thing has been discussed about a million times before. They push Hogan to the world title off the pop from one match, but never come close to even elevating RVD to main event while he's getting consistently large pops. That's just super. So why don't they push these guys? Wasn't the point of the brand extension to create new stars? So why don't they???
Guest DJ Jeff Report post Posted October 15, 2002 Well, I think out of those three, RVD was the only one that got any kind of a push. He faced HHH at Unforgiven for the World Title, even though he did lose it. Also, if I'm right on this, RVD could face HHH for the World Title again at the Survivor Series, where hopefully he wins the title. As for the Hurricane and Rico, I agree. They both deserve somewhat of a push. I just wish they had stayed on Smackdown, where they could at least compete for the Cruiserweight Title.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Report post Posted October 15, 2002 Hurricane was quoted as to saying that he'd never do another ladder match ever again in 2000, so that's probably the main reason he wasn't in TLC 4. And they HAVE been creating new stars, just that they're all on Smackdown. Also, Booker gets no love despite being more over then the first two guys you mention? Guest cabbageboy Report post Posted October 15, 2002 RVD is a different situation than Rico or Hurricane. Here is the problem. They cannot push anyone to any level except the world title. This isn't a big problem for RVD since he can believably win it, but Rico and the Hurricane aren't believable world champs. Seriously, this is why getting rid of all the belts is horrible. Rico and the Hurricane would be a nice little Euro title feud, maybe even IC should they get more over. But guess what? No midcard titles anymore. For the past few years the only thing keeping the midcard at all interesting was the fact that these essentially meaningless guys were fighting over SOME sort of title. Euro, hardcore, l. hvywght, IC. They stopped giving the midcard guys anything to do once Russo left. The only intrigue was over whatever title they were feuding over, and now they don't even have that....and aren't giving them storylines of any sort. Therefore no one can ever get over. Guest razazteca Report post Posted October 15, 2002 RVD was in the ME of the last 2 shows of Raw, and gets the crowd to chant his name everytime but beating HHH is another story. Hurricane could be in the tag team title hunt if he only had a reliable partner. Too bad there is'nt a 6 man tag team championship, because Hurricane along with Bookerdust = ratings. all of the lead from the paint has corrupted Jeff Hardy's brain and work rate. Either that or the 10 ladder matches he has had this year. Rico did get a clean win over Flair but that has went nowhere, just like Alex Wright vs Flair matches from WCW Saturday morning show from the past.
Guest Nater Report post Posted October 15, 2002 From the wrestlers viewpoint, why would you wanna get pushed on Raw? Just so you can lose to HHH in another pointless 1-month feud? Any pushes are squandered in the eventual defeat at a PPV where we never see the person again.. If Kane does win its because HHH wants to raise another set of people for him to defend his title again, he will turn again and defeat another 6 people for another boring HHH reign.
