I use Paintshop Pro which can be downloaded at www.jasc.com, and you can hack the time limit at some hack site.

Some better banner makers may use something else, so listen to them if they recommend otherwise.

Just try searching on a p2p program for a copy of PhotoShop or PaintShop. I've searched, and found files, but never went through the hassle of downloading them.

I, for one, use GIMP, found at gimp.org. It's free, but for that reason, it's obviously not as extensive as a commercial program.

with a program like Dreamweaver or Frontpage(both found from where I said for free) you can make websites too.

Download Paint Shop Pro 7 from jasc.com. It's around 30-40 MB, I believe.

It lasts for 30 days.

If you want to keep it longer, go to astalavista.com, and search for a hack to disable the time limit.

No money is spent. The end.

If you have KaZaa, you can download Photoshop 7 for nothing, or you can do what Midnight Express83 said and buy a copy. Remember, not everyone can be great banner makers, just take me for example. :(

Download Photoshop (or get a friend to copy it for you...I think most "computer people" have their own copies of it). Then go on the net looking for sites that feature Photoshop tutorials and tips. You may also want to consider heading to a bookstore and flipping through some of the Photoshop books there...there are a ton, and a lot of them are pretty good. They're expensive, so just bring along a notebook and jot down some stuff.
