Batman vs Superman

If the Batman vs Superman movie ever gets made. Why not do something different and have Superman be the villain..Batman would still be a dark character and more of a good guy by default.

So basically like last night's Smallville, but with Batman? I could see them going that route actually.

Wouldn't that movie be over in something like nine seconds?

What is the movie going to be about? If I had to guess, it would be the struggle they have between Superman being the Superhero, and Batman being the anti-hero, and their struggle with differing types of methods being used.....

Yes, but becuase Batman would win. It would probably take him a few minutes, really, but he would win. To see how he fares directly against Superman, check out Frank Miller's brilliant The Dark Knight Returns, and even the lousy The Dark Knight Strikes Again. If you want to see a Batman anti-Superman (hell, anti-JLA) plan in action, read JLA: Tower of Babel. Batman is always ten steps ahead of everyone else, and that's key to his character.

The problem is, no one who isn't familiar with those comics would believe Batman beating Superman. The movie wouldn't work because 90% of the audience wouldn't have any belief in what was happening. It's a shame, really, because Batman and Superman have had an interesting dynamic since the latter was revamped in the mid-80's.

The story they have right now is that Batman's fiance gets killed and he believes Superman was responsible for her death. For most of the movie they're going against each other until it is revealed that it was all a plot by Lex Luthor, and the Joker too I believe, and they eventually team up to take on the bad guys.

It's funny because I wrote a Batman vs Superman script over a year ago and it was kind of the same thing but the other way around. My story was that Lois Lane was killed by the Joker which sends Superman to the darkside and makes him go crazy. So he goes to Gotham to search him out. And since he's the villain in the movie, he kills people now and blah blah blah. So Batman gets pissed of course, because Superman is killing criminals and he's doing it in Gotham instead of Metropolis. He also doesn't believe Joker did it because he's been locked away in Arkham. So he punks Superman out and tells him to get the hell out of his city. Eventually they learn that Joker escaped and did do it after being hired by Lex Luthor to kill Superman but he accidentally killed Lois instead. So Supes kills Lex, kills Harley and after Harley gets killed, Joker kinda loses it and understands that his days are numbered and actually turns to Batman for help. So Batman locks him in a cell in the Batcave to try to protect him. Superman gets in anyway and kills both the Joker and Alfred. So now Batman is pissed. No more taking it easy on Superman just because he's crazy. He makes a new suit, a mix of the suit at the end of Dark Knight Returns and the Batman Beyond suit and they have the big battle.

I thought about posting it on some fansites or something but 1. it kinda sucks because I never did another draft after the first one and 2. I don't need all the hatemail from fanboys because I changed a lot of Superman's M.O. But after reading how much JJ Abrams did to Superman in his script, I'm considering it again because I know it ain't as bad as that. hahaha

I maintain that if Superman were to ever beat Batman the entire comic world would mean nothing.

Batman ALWAYS has to beat Superman...or the message being sent would take people (who are the ones reading the books) out of the equation feeling like they are lesser than the hero's they read about.

Dark Night Returns was Crazy go nuts.

I agree that Batman would maul Superman. He's friggen rich, so it'd be fairly easy for him to procure some kryptonite, and BAM! Kryptonite batterangs and all kinds of other kryptonite weapons. I still say someone should just make a bullet out of kryptonite and shoot him in the head.

Batman couldn't maul Superman if he tried. You guys are mixing 'outsmarting' with outright 'destroying'. Batman would play Supes like a fiddle, sure. But without any kryptonite around, he's gonna be eating out a straw for the rest of his life. Supes would just 'Bane' him.

It's an interesting dynamic. They balance eachother out, in their own ways. But people aren't gonna sit and watch two hours of Batman and Supes playing mindgames. And if that's what they're going for, there sure as hell better be a huge Doomsday-like battle at some point. Which can't really happen as they'll never be physically or mentally equal at any point.

I say scrap the entire 'Vs.' premise altogether. In fact, don't make another Batman or Superman movie at all.

I think the VS thing works fine as long as Superman is made to be the villain. If they make the story now and Superman is the one that's in the right, it just doesn't work. What reason would anybody have to cheer for Superman to win? The hero in any movie has to look like he has no chance of winning and he overcomes the odds in the end. That's just how it works. Been that way for years. By making Superman the villain, Batman becomes a total underdog and it's a lot more interesting and works a lot better. Of course it all comes down to this:

Superman is a pansy boyscout in red and blue.

Batman is a bad ass in black.

Batman wins.

I meant he would maul him once he got the kryptonite. Without that he'd just have to blind him or something

Do them seperate as fifth installments to each saga, recapturing Tim Burton's style and continue the 'different villain each time' method to the Batman flick. 'Vs.' would be good, but we've still got some Rogues Gallery members for Bats to face.
