I don't get the t.v shows in Texas; but I recently purchased a few of their home videos they do for their big shows. I want to first point out that I enjoy the hard work that the workers put on. The work throughout the card is great. They have some of the best workers not under WWE contract. The shows have a real old school edge to them, but with contemporary work rate to them. I feel the announcing is top rate. Each show I watch I like the commentating team more each time I hear it. The way Wilson and Prazak call the Styles/Michaels match at Christmas Chaos 2001 was the best I heard yet from them.Like I said I don't get the T.V so I don't get the build-up to the shows, but from what I have read they build to the matches really well. The thing that bothers me from the big shows are 3 things they are bad finishes to matches, over booking the turns, and the gimmick matches. Let me point out that I have only seen Freedom Fight 2001,Fright Night 2001, and Christmas Chaos 2001. I will be getting Hardcore Hell 2002 and Freedom Fight 2002 soon though. It seems to me in the shows that their are just crappy finishes. It seems 1/2 of the matches end in some form of interferance. To me this takes away from the match and hurts the product. A prime example of this is Styles/Michaels at Christmas Chaos 2001. They do a Sting/Vicious finish from 1990, do a face turn by David Young in a matter of 5 minutes. This just became a cluster. The thing though is that this type of poor finish happens a lot. The next is the overbooking of turns. At Christmas Chaos you had Caprice Colemans Brother turn on him, then you had Air Paris turn on Lazz, and finally you had Young turn on Michaels. Sometimes less is more. Furtermore turns mean you are dealing with a fresh character. You must protect the character. If their are 3 turns it makes it that must difficult to protect the character. The final aspect to look at is too many gimmick mathes. Look at Fright Night 2001. They had a ladder match, 4 corners of pain match, and a 2 out of 3 fall match. To me they have too many gimmick matches and they lose the effect desired. Three of them on 1 show is overkill. To me these 3 factors hurt the program.

Bottom line is I like the product in general. I just wish they could tinker with the concept a little bit.

You'll love Freedom Fight then. Briscoe-Briscoe is as close to "clean wrestling" as it'll ever get in the indies, the War Games "Holy Wars" gauntlet match was awesome in terms of drama and storytelling, and Lost Boys-T-N-T was, without a doubt, one of the best spot matches (not including lucha or M-Pro or Toryumon) that I've seen in terms of making everything make sense and telling a story.
