You must all see this. See some free puroresu action in a wonderful 33MB .wmv (Windows Media Player) collage this talented person has put together. If you have broadband, you can watch it streaming, if you have dial-up, IT'S WORTH THE WAIT. It rivals WWF video packages for how well it's put together and this guy is just one person.

Love that puroresu...

Hey, I enjoyed the video although it had a little too much garbage for me (Pogo, Goto).

I have a question though. Can I record this on ASFRecorder? I have the WWF Kid Rock tribute on there but it won't let me do the same thing for the Japan tribute.

I actually thought this was a good thing. The beauty of puroresu is the variety. It's like a buffet, with a diverse range of food, or in this case, wrestling styles and wrestlers. No other wrestling country can offer this.

That ruled it. Great choice for a song too, I wish the WWF would've used that song for their history package, but they always have to be contemporary, even though they used AC/DC's "Highway to Hell" in the promotion for Summerslam '98, and that was far from contemporary, and that's the difference between the WWF in '98 and the WWF now: Then they could use whatever they wanted because they actually were cool, but now they have to follow the trends to try and be cool, but it just doesn't work that way.

Sorry for the tangent, but that was a good video. If I had all the footage and the know-how, I'd set a video package to that song  that would cover the entire spectrum of pro-wrestling from the humble beginnings to now. ESPN did a historical package of sports in the 20th century to that song. It was excellent.

That was awesome.  Even though I would have preferred more than 1 Joshi clip, I'm glad it was Toyota vs. Yamada :)

If you're not already a puro mark, that video will go a long way toward making you one. Awesome, awesome stuff.

That was fantastic.  Definitely rivals anything the WWF has put out, including the History video.  Great choice of music too.  Damn, so much can be said, so much emotion can be provoked through a video like that.  It's amazing.

Someone should post this in the WWF folder.

Alhough it may seem like shoving it down their throats, I think thi can really show the them the beauty of puro.

56k dial-up modem and about 140mins later, it was well worth the wait.

So much to talk about here.

Of course we'd all have done it slightly differently. I would have put in more Joshi clips and a little more Kawada rather than Kobashi. I certainly would have included Kawada powerbombing Misawa for the 1, 2, 3, at the Tokyo Dome while the crowd exploded, creating the perfect backdrop.

But that's about all I'd change. I could even see myself using the same song. Even the song represents the emotion of the video. That was Aerosmith's first hit single in a time when they were known as Rolling Stones wannabe's.The video showing as much inaction as action was effective as well. Letting facial expressions tell their own story.

The timing was awesome. Even the correlation of NWO Japan was a nice touch, at least acknowlging the inspiration from WWF's video. Inoki landing on his head perfectly in synch with the last cymbal crash was magnificant. I only spotted one sloppy editing error but it's easily overlooked.

When we say how some of us would use slightly different clips, I really got the idea that the author of this video was really making it for himself and convey just how he felt out puroresu. He wouldn't have it any other way and isn't that what it's all about?

Almost forgot, that was ballsy to include Sakuraba getting his nose crushed by Silva's knee. But I really felt it showed the adversity in the land where dreams come true, sometimes it's a rocky path.

Actually, that was Bas Rutten KO'ing Masakatsu Funaki.

I might have thrown in a little more Pride, Joshi, or M-Pro just because thos seemed to be the areas where there wasn't a whole lot.

I liked it, and I've never watched Japanese wrestling. Some sequences I felt looked out of place, but that's probably me not knowing much about Japanese wrestling.

That clothesline that bald pulled on the tall guy near the end was bad, and I felt it had to much Liger and some other guys. Not enough women's stuff, either.

I still liked it, though.

It was a good video, but not even close to being better the the WWF tribute video as some of u said. Someone could make one a lot better, but it was still good.

It was a lot better than the Triple H one they played every week. The only thing that bugged me about that video is that it seems like it was made from limited footage.

I didnt mean the triple h one, i ment the WWF tribute from the ric flair promo

As a wrestling fan who has never seen Puro, I have to say that was awesome and I can't wait to start seeing tapes of matches like these.  I say definately post it to the WWF folder.

Could somebody explain the backstory about what I think looks like Liger except with strange facepaint?

Guest The Metal Maniac

I was curious about that myself.

I'm not a big puro fan, but I had that match on my computer once, and just kinda skimmed over it.

It's Great Muta vs Lyger, and during the course of the match, Muta rips off Lyger's mask, to reveal his painted face.

My question is though, had that ever happened before? Since? Or was that the only time his mask EVER came off in the ring?

Hey, is anyone up for identifying everybody in the video (and maybe identifying the matches), for those of us with limited puro collections? I know some of the people like Kawada, Misawa, Kobashi, Liger, Muta, Sasuke, Vader, Toyota (that was her, right?) and oh yeah, that guy at the end, but it would be nice if I know who everyone is. :)

Guest The Metal Maniac

Antonio Inoki is the guy who gives Vader a back brain kick near the start and takes a German Suplex near the end.

I *think* that's Hakushi in there too, isn't it? Near the start, with the round, plate-like hat thing?

Guest Lei Tong

Actally, that looked more like Mr. Gannosuke to me (alot of his gimmick came from making fun of Junsei Shinzaki/Hakushi).

Guest MRFTW

Yeah I think you're right and that is Gano in the round hat though Shinzaki does appear in the video a little later on regardless.

Hey everyone, is Javert ([email protected]), a user told me that my video has been posted here and that it got such great feedback!

After reading all of the posts I just want to thank all of you for the great comments my video has gotten!!!

One thing that I am really happy about is turning some people who really weren't into PUro, into Puro, sparking at least a little bit of interest. My intent with the video was definately show ALL aspects (or asmany as I could) of the Japanese culture of Wrestling! thats why I inluded some of the Garabage stuff. I myself don't like most of the Garbarge stuff, but guys like Onita and Hayabusa were definately huge players of the Japanese wrestling scene.

To answer two quick questions, that is Mr. Gennosuki in the begginning of the movie. And as for Liger, I THINK that was the only time that he ever had his mask off!

Once again thanks! as an fyi I have two other videos (that I may or not post in the other forum); one looks as wrestliing before 3:16...and the other is kinda a 'story' music video of the recent wrestling  business!

thanks again! ICHIBAN!

Hey Javert,

Congratulations on the super effort!  You should be really proud of it.  I really enjoyed it....

A few questions;

who are the first 2 people in a figure-4 leglock spot?

Who is Mutoh doing it to in the second spot?

And was Mutoh deliberately alluding to the first instance?
