Guest starvenger Report post Posted October 17, 2002 I'm gonna try a different format here. Feel free to add on... Comics Spider-Man/Black Cat: The Evil That Men Do #3 (of 5) Kevin Smith/Terry Dodson/Rachel Dodson Rating: 6/10 - Note to self: Don't write a comic and direct a movie at the same time. I was quite disappointed. From the classic Bond Villain reveal to a lame twist that raises more questions than answers, it just didn't work for me. Transformers: Armada #3 Chris Sarraccini/James Raiz/Rob Armstrong Rating: 7/10 - Well, they've caught up to the beginning of the TV series, and managed to make it more interesting. Which makes sense, since the series is geared more towards the kiddies. Give it a shot. Books Star Wars: The New Jedi Order: Traitor Matthew Stover Rating: 9/10 - This book is basically about 2 characters: Jacen Solo and the Old Republic Jedi Vergere. And it gives you an entirely new view of what the Force really is. Oh, and Vergere finds out what happened to little Annie. There you go...
Guest BA_Baracus Report post Posted October 23, 2002 Since my comic store keeps my stuff on file for me, I often pick stuff up a month or two late, but anyways...this is what I bought this week. Comics The Filth #4 Grant Morrison, Chris Weston, Gary Erskine Rating: 6/10 - The couple pages at the beginning with evil Ned being unpleasant to Tony the cat were pretty cool, but the rest was a kind of pointless story which took place in the land of shit (literally). Most of the interesting characters (like the pot-smoking chimp) were barely in this issue. Art was good as always though. Battle Angel Alita: Last Order #1 Yukito Kishiro Rating: 8/10 - Battle Angel Alita is of course also known as Gunm. In this issue Alita gets re-made by her worst enemy (and gasp...she's still hot) and we get an oh-so touching flashback story to when Alita was just a wittle cyborg. Kishiro's art is awesome as always. Batman: Legend of the Dark Knight #159 John Ostrander, David Lopez, Dan Green Rating: 7/10 - Dark Knight has sucked for the longest time as lately it's just become a place to dump dull stories by old Batman writers (Moench, Dixon, Goodwin). The last 3-parter was pretty good though, and the one that's starting here looks decent. It's mostly about Gordon, and he's written well...plus Batman does a decent bit of detective work and gets to kick a few asses. Passable to good art.
