Guest Downhome Report post Posted March 1, 2002 Ok, first off, ECW got a MUCH bigger reaction on the RAW where they "got back together". When all of the ECW guys got in the ring, and then Paul Heyman got in the ring as if he was the "owner" of it once again and was REALLY going to feud against the WWF and WCW, the fans really seemed to be into that! That was one of my favorite moments of all time in Pro. Wrestling history... ...of course later in the SAME show, was also one of my LEAST favorite moments in Pro. Wrestling history, that being the ECW simply joined with WCW, and then they revealed that STEPH was the new owner. God, that pissed me off SO much, they went from doing one of my favorite things ever, to just RUINING it, making it one of my least favorite things ever. Eh, go figure, what should I really have expected? Anyhow... ...what if the WWF wanted ECW to become it's own seperate company now? NOT with Vince, etc... over it, but actually allowing Paul Heyman to go with it, and see what happens. I think an ECW with Paul Heyman as the "head writer" and "leader", with the financial backing of the WWFE, could simply be huge. I'm sure the WWFE could gain all the rights needed to do such as this, and even if they couldn't they could get around it somehow, it wouldn't be THAT big of a deal. Use the former ECW guys in it, perhaps put some of the WWF or WCW talent in it, and sign some old ECW talent, and they could take off. Do you think it could be successfull? Just imagine... ...ECW with Paul Heyman in charge, but with the financial backing of the WWFE... ...do you feel this could work?
Guest Risk Report post Posted March 1, 2002 Yes...as long as they keep Stephanie away from it. She's a cancer.
Guest Report post Posted March 1, 2002 I always said (some of you are probly sick of me saying this) that when McMahon bought WCW, they needed to go with storyline on-screen history and re-name it the nWo, the WWF representatives' job done, a success (WCW had no name value and everyone knew it, so it was destined to fail). But then my mate said Naw! They oughta have re-launched ECW! The thing is, there's no way Vince will ever give someone a company with HIS financial backing. He HAS to be involved. But, sure, they coulda had Paul Heyman as the second booker. Like a Bruce Prichard or whoever (okay, bad example). ECW will probably live again, one day. And not as a shitty WCW-buddy on-screen in a dying angle as part of the fuckup of the century.
Guest Goldust Report post Posted March 1, 2002 The Bizzare one would love Paul Heyman to hold his big black solid Xbox.
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted March 1, 2002 If all WWF did was pour in money and it's real talent (the bits of the roster that can wrestle) and left Paul alone to do what he does best... only with money this time. It'd be great, have to have the old ECW style and bump rules of course.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted March 1, 2002 I don't know. In that scenario, I think the action would be toned down alot, to the point where it wouldn't be "real" ECW. If Vince is backing it financially, he'll want a return on his investment, and he won't get that if guys get hurt.
Guest Downhome Report post Posted March 1, 2002 Hell, I'd love to see the WWFE bring ECW back, so we could have yet another chance to show XPW how a REAL "extreme" Pro. Wrestling company should be done... ...I'd love to see Rob Black f*ck with a WWFE owned version of ECW!
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted March 1, 2002 I don't think ECW would be that profitable or successful. Possibly with some bigger named talent but they'd have to clean up alot of the hardcore crap they were 'famous' for. The hardcore genre has past and I have no desire to see guys like New Jack, Sandman, or Sabu stinking up the screen. And the last couple of years were nothing to write home about especiaaly when Justin Credible is your friggin champion. I want ECW to stay grounded. It had its time. Now give me something new and creative dammit!
Guest razazteca Report post Posted March 1, 2002 An ECf'nDub revivial should of been on during the Invasion angle, but it never happen and probably never will be what it used to be. With the McMahons overseeing ECW it would be both a good and bad. The good is having wrestling as a focus, the bad would be having Stephanie remaking it in her own image. It could work if Cyrus, Lou E(Sign Guy), Joey Styles, Joel Gertner do the announcing and or management. But of course the Billionaire Princess would find a need to put herself on tv. It would be funny if they did a live show from the ECW Arena. I can hear the profanity chants now "Take it off" "You F up". Oh well I guess I'll have to settle for a Jerry Springer for the heated crowd reactions. Jerry Jerry Jerry
Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted March 1, 2002 I always get a chuckle when people say "WCW is dead. Get over it. It ain't coming back.", then they turn around and say "Bring back ECW!" If I had a preference, though, I'd like to see WCW get resurrected.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted March 1, 2002 WCW has been resurrected it goes by the name of Raw is War on TNN. It has everything WCW had the nWo, the women, angles that go nowhere.
Guest Army Eye Report post Posted March 1, 2002 fine but there's the good midcard and cruiser matches that WCW had? I want THAT part too
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted March 1, 2002 I think ECW would work under the money of WWFE, but it wouldn't be the same. Hardcore is dead anyway. Unless this ECW becomes all wrestling.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted March 1, 2002 ECW??? Oh god no! I've said it before and I'll say it again. I just dislike ECW and do not understand why everyone creams over them. Sure they were pretty good in 95-97 but after that they just sucked big time. They always had average to good workers and anybody in the company that was worth a damn when it came to wrestling were just USING ECW to get to the big leagues. ECW is just so damn overrated. Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted March 2, 2002 I wouldn't say that they were overrated. ECW just had a really loyal fanbase that supported them right to the end. Also look at the talent they produced and created for the WWF and WCW to take.
Guest Some Guy Report post Posted March 2, 2002 When the WCW/ECW invasiopn first happened I envisioned WCW getting Raw, WWF getting Smackdown, and ECW getting Heat. I think that would have worked if guys like Bischoff (on screen only), Goldberg, Hall, Nash, Flair, and Steiner, in addition to the guys they got were brought in for WCW and all the ECW guys including Benoit and Eddy were given to ECW. That leaves Rock, HHH, Austin, and all the rest of the WWF guys on Smackdown. With independent booking with different styles and the occassional talent swap, worked free agent signings, eventually the marks would forget that the companies were all owned by the same people, providing the McMahons stayed in WWF. Then a big interpromotional card wold be huge, IMO and there would be an actual feeling of WWF vs. WCW vs. ECW. I think that would have been cool and successful but instead we got WWF sqaushing WCW/ECW.
