Gotta love the NFL...

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Terrell Owens was fined $5,000 Thursday by the NFL - for an untucked shirttail, not for his autograph touchdown celebration.

Owens wasn't punished for pulling a pen from his sock to sign the football after a touchdown catch in the San Francisco 49ers' 28-21 victory over Seattle on Monday night. Instead, the league sent him a letter containing a much more common, minor fine for equipment violations.

Owens called it ``nonsense ... a very nit-picky thing.''

``It states on the notice that I specifically wore my shirt out during the game,'' Owens said. ``I constantly tucked it in throughout the course of the game, and people were tugging on me, and it just came out.''

After beating cornerback Shawn Springs for the winning touchdown in the fourth quarter, Owens produced a pen, signed the football and presented it to his financial adviser in the front row.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Owens won't be fined or suspended for the move, but similar displays will be punished.

I'm sure some people will look at this and think that the NFL is trying to find a reason to fine him for the autographing thing, but really they do stuff like this all the time. The NFL has so many equipment regulations.

I remember Rodney Harrison being fined for having his shorts too short and *GASP* showing some skin via part of his knee. Stupid.

The No Fun League has uniform police in the stands at every game, armed with binoculars. Their entire job is to look at all the players and see who is violating any of the leagues 35156894151 rules when it comes to nitpicking about uniforms.

There's been worse instances of this. I think Phil Simms got a penalty called on him for having his socks too low. If the NFL really cared about how their players looked, they'd ban those horrid Titans' jerseys.

Guest Smell the ratings!!!

Nah, the new Seahawks jerseys are way more hideous. And when they play on turf it's like camoflauge, that has to be against the rules.

Well, the camoflauge obviously doesn't work. (RIMSHOT!) Thank you, thank you.

That is bullshit. Owens shouldn't have anything done to him period. First of all like a few of you guys have stated before, there have been worse cases of guys with their jerseys untucked. The autograph was pretty cool if you ask me.

Bills away jerseys ain't exactly art either.

No, but the home jerseys more than make up for it.

Vive l'Alouettes!
