top 3 albums

Fun fact: I couldn't stand Wait and Bleed, even though it was the song that the most people knew, but AT THAT TIME, meaning when I was in some kind of mental fog and bought the album with my own money(I bought The Bends in the same trip to the record store), I couldn't name the song I liked the most, and still can't. I'm going to grab the thing now and look to see what my favorite song was, because I remember the track numbers...

And the winner is "(Sic)!"

But I must concede that the hidden track with them watching what I think is a porno is pretty funny, especially when they say something looks like pudding, and people are coughing and puking in the background the whole time.

Fo sheez,

Kotzenjunge

Meat is Murder? Really? The Queen is Dead kicks its ass.

I concur. However, past the first song, Meat Is Murder is a good album. I think it's somewhat underrated by people, but I don't think it's great or anything. Probably their 3rd best album.

I like everything about Meat is Murder EXCEPT the title track. Musically, its nothing special, but the lyrics are cringe-inducingly preachy.

Prince Paul - A Prince Among Thieves

The universal praise that album receives escapes me. The tracks are good, but I swear to Christ the story sections are dull. If it had actually been made into a movie like Paul envisioned, it would've been shit.

i disagree. Mildly. I've met people who go with the queen is dead, people who go with the debut, people who go with strangeways. But meat is murder is my pick. Most of the time.

i disagree about slipknot being the worst nu metal band. For the most part, they are crap, but folks like limp bizkit have launched twice as many pretenders and been far more damaging to the industry as a whole IMO. slipknot are just noise, but i'd prefer listening to abrasive noise (melvins, butthole surfers etc) than vomitous rap metal.

hmm. The story does slow down the album on subsequent listens, and the Count Macula stuff doesn't even fit in that well, but I appreciate the added dimension the storyline creates. I think the concept was an ambitious one, and I think it was executed quite well, though perhaps not perfectly.

Perhaps I should have a stronger defense for an album I put in my top 3, but I chose albums that subjectively speaking I most enjoy on a visceral level, and they're not necessarily the most praise-worthy albums, in my opinion. Maybe I've bad taste, but there's something about that album that I just fucking enjoy. Prince Paul is just brilliantly twisted in a humorous way.

True, but I can ignore the preaching...granted, it's horrifically out of place lyrically, but if you can get past that, there's not really anything wrong with it.

Even though it's not technically an album, Louder Than Bombs is my favourite Smiths release, followed by The Queen Is Dead. LTB is just a great listen, IMO. How can you go wrong with a song called "Sweet & Tender Hooligan"?

I recall someone telling me that there's a live version of "Meat is Murder" circulating that--and I'm quoting here--"fucking rocks," but I'll be damned if I can find it.

To whoever said "The Wall" was Pink Floyd's weakest album...

"The Final Cut" and "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" are far far FAR weaker. They're hardly even Pink Floyd albums for crying out loud. However, I love "The Division Bell."

IMO, the title of worst Floyd album goes to The Final Cut. I'd put the Wall somewhere in the middle with Wish You Were Here.

this is interesting.

TFC is a beautiful tribute to Rog's fallen father... yet has no business running under the Pink Floyd name since Rog did everything himself. The last actuall Pink Floyd album was Wish You Were Here, where everyone worked together and got along, or Animals if you don't count the tour.

its good to see how people realize the Wall isn't all its cracked up to be. It tells a good, interesting, and involved story yet the music of it is subpar. Again, this is the result of the band hating each other and having to mediate two HUGE egos in Dave and Rog.

A Momentary Lapse of Reason is definitely not the worst Floyd album. Dave shines through and through on that record and Tony Levin on the bass, oh yeah~!! Lyrically, yeah, it's pretty bad... but damn, that Gilmour can play the hell out of a guitar.

I don't understand why the early Beatles are overlooked and ragged on. "A Hard Day's Night" is one of the finest pop-song collections ever presented in one 1/2 hour

Momentary Lapse is pretty iffy, too. That and Final Cut are pretty clearly their weakest efforts, with TFC being just a little worse in my book.
