A Note For Scott

You asked what the purpose of the Hulk Hogan retrospective video from Smackdown was.  You remember that a lot of today's WWF fans biggest exposure to Hogan was during the original NWO run.  The video was the WWF's way of showing it's newer fans just why The Rock said this guy was so big.

And in your WrestleMania XIV rant, you wondered what Jim Ross's ironic comment was.  Ross mentioned that Taka won the light heavyweight championship at the D-Generation X pay-per-view, which was held on December 7.

Did anyone else feel like a little kid again watching that Hogan video last night?  All those old school clips were a nice trip down memory lane IMO.

The only thing that video showed was just how much he hasn't changed since back then.  His moveset is exactly the same, whether he's a face or a heel his mannerism's are the same, and my regard for him is still the same: none.  I was always cheering for whoever was beating him (which might explain why I am still a big Undetaker fan) and for his heel behavior, all he did was change his look and who he was insulting.  He exposes the business like no one else except for maybe Piper.

What! This has to be a joke right? All you need to do is look at Piper's phenemonal workrate and dazzling array of kicks, punches, vicious ear boxes, eye pokes, back rakes, banging opponents legs upon the ring apron. You can keep your Rocky Maivas and Stone Cold Ringmasters, Hot Rod is the truly the future of this great sport!

Seriously though, Piper obviously did wrestling a disservice by coming out of retirement about 50 thousand times while basically crippled, but when you talk about exposing wrestling, no one comes close to the exalted God of Suck Vince Russo (WCW champ David Arquette?),  and They Live was a pretty good movie so I can forgive some things.

Piper was Stone Cold before Stone Cold was Stone Cold.

1)  I asked what the STORYLINE purpose of the video segment was.  I'm perfectly aware of what the WWF's purpose behind showing it was, but why would HOGAN (the character) want to show a video recap of his career?  It was never explained.

2)  If you're referring to Dec. 7 being the Pearl Harbor attacks and thus "ironic", you (or possibly JR) would be misusing the term "ironic".  It's coincidental, sure, but not ironic.  If it was, say, the anniversary of the Hiroshima bombings, then it might be considered irony for a Japanese guy to win a title on the day the war was lost.  Of course, it might be Hiroshima, because I took History of Warfare in University but I'm terrible with dates.  See, THAT'S irony.

The storyline purpose was for Hulk to show everyone why he's the biggest ever in wrestling. Duh.

How is Ross mentioning Taka won the lightheavy belt the DX event ironic? He was talknig about Pearl Harbor or what?

1) It was also never explained why Hogan would suddenly become an attempted murderer, either.

2) I didn't say it was ironic; I was just explaining what Ross meant.

RSPWFAQ stands for "Rec. Sports Pro Wrestling: Frequently Asked Questions", so I don't think it has anything to do with Rantsylvania.

Because I'm lazy and I don't feel like signing in when IE6's cookie scheme won't work properly with Ikonboard.
