ok, hulk dvd, second disc, 1985. vs Big John Studd. This match actually hurt me, perhaps in the spleen. Here's a rant:

Hulk Hogan v Big john studd.

they run into each other the customary three times to start. Then comes the test of strength. Two minutes later, and Studd has the upper hand. Still. Hulk FINALLY gains the advantage, but gets caught in a bearhug. Then another. Then ANOTHER. The commentary and crowd are very quiet, and it's pissing down with rain. That just adds to this. Studd slips over, adding to the whole feel of this match yet more. They tumble outside, where Studd takes An Even Worse Post Bump Than Brian Adams In THAT Match, and then gets fucking COUNTED OUT. -**** (not quite -***** cos it was better than patterson/brisco)

now, i know i had no right expecting anything of this in the first place, but it astonishes me what top line performers could get away with in those days. I mean it was 1985, not 1885.

Just thought i'd share the pain. The highlight for me of the whole dvd set however, was Orndorff beating the piss out of Hogan before the bell. hehehehehehehe.

Yeah, I couldn't even watch that match. I was fast forwarding through it, just to see where they gave up and left the ring, but I couldn't do it, even at triple speed.

Why the hell did they put that match on there???? They could have tuck anything on and it would have been better, it was basically one bearhug throughout the match and they didnt even do that well!!!!!

It's a semi-legendary match for the rainstorm and one could argue that the weather forced them to be cautious and just work the bearhug. However, you probably couldn't expect anything over a * from Hogan and Studd on a good day.

Yeah, that match sucked. I had to fast forward it mainly because it was so fucking boring.

i enjoyed the dvd, but then i didn't pay for it. It's my brother's. There's a shitload on there, and it's pretty interesting, but the only bit i LOVED was orndorff stiffing hogan. :)

LOL! "I went and told Orndorff 'You're really hurting me brother'" LOL!

I'd really like to see anyone wrestle in a ring barely big enough to fit 3 people and put on any kind of match in a storm, with the ring mat peeling off in the process.

Agreed. Studd's pants turned pink when he fell. And why was the ring only 2 feet off the ground? BTW didn't Gorilla Monsoon(RIP) sound bored out of his skull calling that match?

"Studd with a bear hug on Hogan(1 min of silence passes) Hulk trying to break free"

I know he didn't exactly say that but you get the point :)

I have always wanted to see this match just because of what takes place during the match.

It's fun to watch the red carpet leak onto Studd's pants, and Hogan slip and trip getting back in the ring. Even the one move they tried to pull off was totally biffed.

In many sick ways, Stidd/Hogan is a MUST SEE match. It's a 1985 Main Event, and you could easily have a better backyard match w/ your buddy on the fly.

Something else I noticed was that there's a match on Best of WWF Volume 16 from the same venue (except w/ pouring rain throughout the entire match) between The Killer Bees vs. Iron Mike Sharpe / Barry O. Gorilla Monsoon had the bananas to call this match a 'beauty.' While not a ****1/4 classic, it still had some continunity and flow to it to keep it from negative stars despite the conditions. I'd call it a 1/2*.

I want the tape of the "rain" show because it sounds like a huge clusterfuck for the WWF
