Thornton assisted on goals by Glen Murray, Bryan Berard and Jonathan Girard for his second three-point game in as many nights as the Boston Bruins skated to a 3-3 Thursday night with the Calgary Flames. ``He had three assists and probably could have had five more,'' said Bruins coach Robbie Ftorek. Related Info Fructis Flake of the Week: The would be streaker BOS/CGY Highlights The tie enabled the Bruins to extend their road unbeaten streak to three games (2-0-1), but it was a much shorter streak late in the third period that dominated the post-game discussion. During a break in play with just over five minutes remaining, a male streaker scaled the glass near the penalty box and jumped onto the ice. However, he slipped on the ice as soon as he landed and fell flat on his back, banging his head and apparently knocking himself out. A six-minute delay ended when paramedics, accompanied by police, wheeled the male off the ice on a stretcher. Having regained consciousness, he pumped his hands in the air drawing a loud ovation from the Pengrowth Saddledome crowd of 15,346. Asked if he thought it was a Boston fan, Thornton replied with a grin, ``I don't think so, he had red socks on. You guys can have him.'' Chris Clark, Toni Lydman and Chuck Kobasew scored for Calgary (1-2-1-0), which is winless in their three home starts. Boston (2-1-1-0) has two games left on its season-opening six-game road trip before returning home for their home opener next Thursday. ``Coming off back-to-back games, it's nice to get a tie here in Calgary,'' Thornton said. The Bruins beat Vancouver 6-3 Wednesday night. All the scoring came in the first two periods and was capped by a fluke goal by Chris Clark. Hard work from Calgary centre Stephane Yelle forced Bruins defenceman Hal Gill off the puck along the side boards and the puck squirted out to Clark whose centring pass deflected off defenceman Jonathan Girard's leg and slipped through the pads of goaltender Steve Shields to tie the game 3-3. ``It wasn't pretty, that's for sure,'' said Flames coach Greg Gilbert. ``We're happy to get the point. We battled back after falling behind, but we created our own problems at times.'' Calgary outshot Boston 8-2 in the third period and also had the best chances in overtime. Especially snake-bitten was Jarome Iginla, who was robbed several times by Shields on close-in chances. ``Jarome's a strong player and he's going to get his opportunities no matter who he's out there against so you just have to be aware of him,'' said Shields, who finished with 24 saves in his first start of the season. With Boston trailing 2-1, Girard tied the game with his first goal of the season at 5:19 of the second. As Murray cut in off the right wing, his centring pass appeared to be smothered by goaltender Roman Turek but lay loose in the crease and Girard poked it into the net. Berard gave Boston a 3-2 lead when he fired in a Sergei Samsonov rebound at 16:25 of the second. Kobasew gave the Flames a 2-1 lead 1:29 into the second. As Marc Savard carried the puck behind the Bruins net, he fired a pass out front to an uncovered Kobasew and the Flames rookie fired a shot into the open side for his second goal in as many games. Notes: Rookie Calgary D Jordan Leopold has recovered fully from the concussion he suffered in the pre-season but did not dress against the Bruins for conditioning reasons....Among the Flames healthy scratches was C Rob Niedermayer for the second straight game....Boston LW Rob Zamuner returned to the line-up after missing Wednesday's game in Vancouver to be with his wife for the birth of their second child. Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted October 18, 2002 What kind of an idiot would try climbing the glass naked and then dropping all the way down to the ice? Plus, it's pretty tough to run on ice without falling down pretty quickly. Some people are dumber than I thought possible.

Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted October 19, 2002 Hockey is a sport I don't follow, or know anything about, but dammit, I've got a spot in my heart for streakers. There should be a yearly award for it. Have both male and female categories, with the criteria being the level of publicity, the amount of time on camera, the number of people in attendance, and the distance ran before capture. Guest MentallyNormal Report post Posted October 20, 2002 What about shrinkage due to the cold ice. WTF was he thinking!! Gotta give him credit that is pretty orginal. Lets just hope we don't see any streakers running on the track at some Nascar Event, that could be messy.
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted October 20, 2002 I'm dying with laughter over here. And the idea of a streaker at NASCAR makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside for some reason. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest nl5xsk1 Report post Posted October 20, 2002 Man, Byron Dafoe isn't taking not having a contract well. Easily the funniest thing I've read all day ... I literally laughed until I started to cough. Ironically, they're talking about Dafoe on HNIC right now.
