The only major differences are the back-story given to Samara/Sadako and Ringu explains the tape in a little more detail.

Well, Im a bit slow, but I just got the DVD at Blockbuster for less than $8, and although Im sure if I had any hair, it would have been raised at some point, I didn' really find it so scary that I won't be able to sleep tonight.

The DVD itself is pretty lame though, although the video and the extended deleted scene squence were pretty cool.

Yeah, it's more of suspense than anything. The only scary part about it is:

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

The flashback to the girl that's dead in the house

I just thought of something cool although I'll probably never get to try it out myself.

Windows XP has a powertoy available that allows you to turn videos (Im not sure what format..) into screensavers. So the possibility exists that you could have the video as a screensaver if you downloaded it (which would take me 6 forevers on my slow connection..)

Having porn as a screensaver doesn't sound so bad.

While the topic is bumped, funny Ring story.

My friend Sam bought the movie and watched it on a Friday night. Our friend Will also saw the movie. So the next day, I come in and see, Sam, Will, and someone we'll call Jeremy watching The Ring. Right as a scary part approaches, Sam covers his ears (which is funny in itself for its sheer childish nature). Jeremy, seeing Sam cover his ears, freaks out and begins badgering Sam with frightful babblings and as a last resort covers his own ears. Will, who looks like he's stoned most of the time and is perfectly calm throughout the whole ordeal AND is about as smart as shoe leather, looks over, shrugs his shoulders, and covers HIS ears just because.

Maybe you had to have been there.

I finally saw the Ring last week.

That's it? THIS is what everybody is crapping their pants over? I don't hate the movie, it's ok, but it's pretty mediocre. The movie had a lot going for it, it had a cool premise and it could've took the story into a million different directions. Instead it just fell back on the predictable gotta move the spirit's body run of the mill standard ghost story. Hell, that was even on Scooby Doo. To me, the movie was a X-Files episode that accidently went about an hour too long. I knew I was in for a letdown when I looked at the box and found out it was PG-13. I knew then that it wasn't gonna be much of a horror movie, but I didn't really think they story would end up being so dumb.

i never understood what the big deal about it was. i went to see it with an ex-girlfriend cause there was nothing else to see, & it was so boring we walked out halfway through. i can't say anything about the movie as a whole, but what i did see failed to impress me at all.

on the upside, after walking out early we did end up having sex in the back of her car. so i'm not holding the boringness AGAINST the movie in any way.

Did you make it to the part where Brian Cox shoves a horse bridle on his face and rants about death? It's the only part I liked all that much, and I think it has the potential to really enliven a sexual experience.

Wow...so I guess you must've missed the last 10 minutes then? Because it became quite apparent that moving the body did NOTHING for Samara, good or bad.

Yes, because a rating is completely equivalent to the quality.

I just watched the ring and my thoughts

Deliciously Fun Scare Flick.

I will not have nightmares except for the kid's killer line at the end.
