Guest Mattdotcom Posted October 21, 2002 Report Posted October 21, 2002 Spiderman over Star Wars: ANH? Turn in your NewsRadio mark card. So by sacraficing my second-favorite Star Wars movie (Empire would beat A New Hope anyways), I sacrafice my Rocket Ranger membership? This is one love triangle I don't think I can come out of unscathed. My love for Spidey and Star Wars arose around the same time. However, following Episode I, I found myself more and more excited for Spider-Man than Episode II. But the original trilogy...oh, my...A New Hope against Spider-Man. Here we have one movie that captured so much history and succeded in making me happy against a movie that MADE history and made me happy. And in the middle my all-time favorite television show? Spiff, you bastard...making me choose...just like the Green Goblin in Spider-Man! This is obviously a subliminal message telling me to stick with Spider-Man! And any attempt in telling me it isn't is a lie, since the Goblin was evil! PHEW! I'm glad I figured that one out!
Guest El Satanico Posted October 21, 2002 Report Posted October 21, 2002 What the fuck are people smoking to think that Chasing Amy is anywhere near as good as Citizen Kane? I don't think there's a drug strong enough to make someone pick Chasing Amy over Citizen fucking Kane. It has to be explained by people voting without seeing both movies. I'll admit that i even voted on a few without seeing both. I was split on rather or not i should ignore them. However i usually picked what i think would be the better movie. I picked 400 Blows and Un Chien Andalou without seeing them because i'm sure they are better than the movies they were against. The only pick i wish i didn't make was Pulp Fiction over Ran. I know Ran is most likely an excellent movie, but i voted Pulp Fiction just because i really like it alot.
Guest godthedog Posted October 21, 2002 Report Posted October 21, 2002 actually, i love 'chasing amy' to death, and enjoy it about as much as 'kane'. even though orson welles was a visual/technical/acting/etc genius, 'chasing amy' had characters & a story that really spoke to me personally. i give props to kevin smith for doing that, cause only a handful of movies have done it. i love 'kane' as a film freak more than as a regular spectator, & i only voted for it cause welles needs all the props he can get. and as great as 'ran' is, i still think 'pulp fiction' is objectively the better movie. i love them both, & i was pissed having to choose between them, but i took it like a man.
