Guest Kagato Otaku Posted October 21, 2002 Report Posted October 21, 2002 What-EVER. I have to be in a certain mood to get into and enjoy Kane. I can watch Amy and be entertained by the dialogue, since that's one of the few things any Kevin Smith flick has going for it. This is not a "best movie ever" tourney, and we're not voting for artistic achievement. At least I'm not.
Guest godthedog Posted October 21, 2002 Report Posted October 21, 2002 if you know what to look for, 'kane' is really a ton of fun to watch. there's at least a dozen 'holy shit' moments.
Guest J*ingus Posted October 21, 2002 Report Posted October 21, 2002 Can we make a rule that you simply cannot vote for a movie unless you've seen both films in contention?
Guest godthedog Posted October 21, 2002 Report Posted October 21, 2002 i've argued for it & i've argued for it, but the peons will just not listen. and this isn't really meant to be taken too seriously anyway, i'm curious to see what the results of this will be.
Guest Incandenza Posted October 21, 2002 Report Posted October 21, 2002 ::turns on Snob mode:: I haven't participated in this thread, 'cuz I'm not terribly interested in what a bunch of wrestling fans think is The Greatest Movie Ever. ::turns off Snob mode::

Guest J*ingus Posted October 21, 2002 Report Posted October 21, 2002 Hey Nathan J, you can't just click the "bold" button, or any other Ikoncode button, to get it to work; you have to go in and manually do it all within the body of your text.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted October 21, 2002 Report Posted October 21, 2002 ...I'm still in shock that there's someone who's never seen Big Lebowski, Fight Club, Jaws, OR fucking Night of the Living Dead. The fact that Fear and Loathing is going to lose to Ferris is a travesty, too. I liked it and all, but c'mon. You people also voted for Hubert Humphrey, AND YOU KILLED JESUS!
Guest JHawk Posted October 21, 2002 Report Posted October 21, 2002 For clarification: If I only saw one of them, that got the vote by default. If there's no vote, I haven't seen either of them. Guest Youth N Asia Posted October 21, 2002 Report Posted October 21, 2002 VOTING IS OVER!!!! Now I gotta add all this shit up
Guest 5_moves_of_doom Posted October 21, 2002 Report Posted October 21, 2002 Meh, I've seen all of the movies on the list believe it or not, save Falling Down and Color Of Money. However, those two were up against Clerks and mother-fucking FARGO, which happen to both be on or near my Top Ten List, especially the latter one, as the Coen's kick ass. Oh, and about the whole Citizen Kane debacle: this is FAVORITE movie, not BEST, and prefer more surreal, slightly-humorous movies, though Citizen Kane DID rock the house. I haven't seen it in a year or two though, and I remember it boring me slightly the third time around, while Smith's films have longitivity, which is very important when choosinf favorites. Oh, and again, why the FUCK isn't Dog Day Afternoon in there!?
Guest Youth N Asia Posted October 22, 2002 Report Posted October 22, 2002 Any movie that isn't on the list isn't on because no one nominated it. Plain and simple. I am not going to be able to put round 2 up till tomorrow...this is taking way longer then I thought. Thank ye for your patiance
Guest Mr. Slim Citrus Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 Since some people have appeared to direct some sort of irritation by my votes: mattdotcom: I haven't see Jaws the same way that I haven't seen Miracle on 34th Street, It's a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Story, and The Ten Commandments. I just have a tendency to somehow avoid watching those movies. I've never actually rented Jaws, and I believe I was 2 years old or something when it came out. I don't remember any occasion in which it's ever been on TV, and assuming it has, there's probably just been something else I'd rather watch on. In the case of the X-mas movies, It's become as much of a tradition for me to avoid watching them as it is for some people to watch them every year. godthedog, El Satanico: I've never partaken in illegal drugs, thank you very much. As far as choosing Chasing Amy over Citizen Kane, unless I was mistaken, the objective was to choose your favorite movies, not the best movies. I'm astute enough to recognize the fact that Kane is technically superior to Amy in just about every critical aspect, but that doesn't mean that it entertains me.
