Worst Heel Run Ever

Recommended Posts

Guest ratboy

Which face made the worst heel ever? Sting?? Goldberg?? Rikishi? Somebody else?

As a huge Sting mark, I'm tempted to go with the Stinger, but Goldberg's heel run in the summer of 2000 was idiotic, tired and largely unwatched: Pure WCW.

What do y'all think, though?

I agree with the Goldberg heel turn that was horrible.  Also Matt Hardy's recent heel turn was nothing nore than a waste of time since he was gone from TV shortly after and then returned with Jeff and Lita.

I guess I'll go with Goldberg. Goldberg should of at least tried to be a heel instead of throwing a hissy fit over it. Sting's turn was also bad.

Tatanka's heel turn at SummerSlam '94 was utterly pointless. The WWF should have just fired him rather that turn him heel and keep him around for another 18 months.

Ricky Morton's heel run as "Richard Morton" in the York Foundation.

#1, the Rock N' Roll Express were no longer in their prime, and Morton had lost a step or two.  Plus, who in the blue hell is going to get into a Robert Gibson solo push!?

#2, His look stayed ENTIRELY THE SAME.  This is the same problem Tatanka faced.  No haircut, tights change, anything.  The only difference was that his name was Richard.  Big deal.

Rikishi's turn as the hit and run driver would have been great if some of the rumors about it were true (it was supposedly leading to a new Nation stable, or a Rock heel turn at/before Wrestlemania).  Instead we get Triple H as the mastermind, and Rikishi as the fat Samoan lackey.  Goodbye heat, hello midcard for the once popular Samoan.

Tatanka's heel turn surprised me too.  I thought Luger was going to turn, after a failed face run.  Luger was always better as a heel.

It was a cool angle leading up to it.. but Tatanka as a heel wasn't anything to write home about

Far from the worst though.

Rikishi's was pretty bad.  The way I remember it, he was floundering as a heel anyway, so the HHH thing was not so much a heat stealer as an angle saver.  The subsequent feud at least made some good out of the car angle and Austin being out for so long.

Sting

The Goldberg one was bad too.

The Sting one was so much worse cause he had been established as a face for so long and unlike a Hogan he didnt have the storylines or interviews to pull off such a change. At least goldberg had "The New Blood" behind him, as bad as it was.

Why was everyone so surpised at Tatanka's turn?? I saw it from a mile away and I was only 11.

Tatanka accusing Lex of "selling out" a dozen times as well as very audibly saying "you sold out" about two dozen times during the match made it pretty obvious that it was going to be a swerve. I mean even the crowd knew...they booed Tatanka during his entrance.

The only heel run that was Offensively Painful to watch was:

King Mabel!  Blahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, but that's not because Mabel sucked as a heel.  Its because he sucked period.

True True True!

But at least he wasn't being pushed as a legit #1 Contender during his 1993-early1995 MOM days.  He was a harmless oaf that polluted my screen about 3-5 minutes a week.  As King Mabel, he guaranteed me that he would run through much of the roster up until his title shot.  Plus, he'd be getting (shudder) interview time (shudder)

I gotta go w/ Sting.

I was there the night Sting turned heel on Hogan, and believe me, the people were not booing lol.  I think Sting became the most popular man in NC by hitting Hogan w/ that bat

A heel run im thankful didnt happen was the supposive Ultimate warrior turn at Summerslam 1992.

As for ones that did occur..........probably either Steve Austin's most recent one from WM X-7, or the Ahmed johnson one in summer of 1997. Talk about pointless.

Undertaker's most recent heel turn hasn't exactly lit the wrestling world on fire (although I loved seeing JR get beat up and forced to lick wrinkly ass), but his heel turn in late 1998-early 1999 was crap as well. But it did produce one of the best promo lines ever; "Let me make one thing clear ... I hate everyone."

I never really liked the idea of heels and faces.  I liked ECW because they didn't rely on that dynamic there, the characters were more realistic, like real people, lots of real people are messed up...

I think it's X-Pac. The guy was actually over with the fans. Then he turned heel against Kane. His career has gone in a downward sprial since then. Poor little bugger, maybe there is chance Syxx will have spot on the NWO. Until then, godspeed 1-2-3 Kid!

He was brought in as a face at the beginning of the Invasion angle. He didnt turn heel until wcw and ecw merged to be become the alliance.
