Capcom vs SNK 2

Recommended Posts

Guest Renegade

After just finishing a long marathon of matches with 2 of my friends (and with the exception of one of my friends Geese/Rock/Shin Akuma team, I held my own) I wondered what’s your favourite team for CvS2?

Some of mine:

Ratio matches:

-Team Capcom: Ryu/Ken

-Team Fatal Fury -1: Terry/Joe

-The Thairican connection: Ken/Sagat

-Team Tiger: Sagat/Joe (My strongest ratio match team)

3 on 3 matches:

-Joe/Terry/Ken

-Yamakazi/Ken/Geese

-Team Muay Thai: Sagat/Joe/King

-Geese/Sagat/Rugal

-Ken/Joe/Sagat (My strongest 3 vs 3 team in the game)

Wow, I'm really surprised at people using two characters in their Ratio matches. *shrugs* to each their own I guess.

I don't play anybody at home so I'll just run with my arcade teams.

C Groove (Top Squad): Guile/Kim/Vega(R2)

C Groove (B Team): Yuri/Terry/Ryu(R2)

P Groove (Top Squad): Yuri/Ryu/Vega

P Groove (B Team): Yun/Terry/Akuma

I don't use any other grooves (well I dabble in K Groove but that's just for shits and giggles). Other characters cycled in at any given time include Yun, Rock, Iori, Rolento, and Chun Li.

Avoid top tier, they dull your skills due to their disgusting priorities.

Those not in the know please take the time to visit Shoryuken.com and hit the forums for tons of information about every character you can think of along with tournament information.

I'm a total CvS2 scrub, but my main ratio team is Akuma/Bison/Sagat(2), or if I'm getting really desperate, Sagat(4). That gets really boring, so I'm trying to learn new people, and am getting pretty decent with Nakoruru and Hibiki. Shin Akuma/Hibiki/Nakoruru(2) is probably my favorite ratio team to play now, but it always loses. Bah.

S Groove

-Yuri & Ryo are unbeatable, Kyokugen martial art is #1

-Yuri & Dan You Lose taunt is so funny

with 2 players the ratio is even, with 3 players you have 1 roid freak and 2 weak characters

No, with 2 players you have one less person that needs to be killed off. I don't think I've ever encountered a CvS2 player that uses only two characters in any tournament I've been to. Why limit your team? I laugh every time I see someone take an R2/R2 team and think they're going anywhere with it. Odds are it'll take 1 and 1/2 R1 characters to deal with the first R2 and then you've still got 1/2 and R1 and your "roid freak" to clean up the mess. Two character teams are a waste of time.

As for what KoR said, Shin Akuma may well be the worst character in CvS2. If he isn't R4 then he's totally useless. Takes damage worse than every other character in the game. He's faster than his regular counterpart but whoop de fucking doo. Regular Akuma is just as good but takes less damage and less predictable with people trying that stupid come from the ceiling Lv3 Super. *sigh* turtle that shit down. The Bison/Sagat/??? team is obviously a good team considering you're using two of the big four (Blanka and Cammy being the other two) characters. The other team is really good if you know how to use speed to your advantage. Hibiki is a turtle player's dream with various long strikes and an unblockable standing fierce. Nako has some of the best poking in the game with loads of rush down options.

I always advise finding one team and sticking to it. I listed my teams above but I only use the non top team in casual. Tournament is all business with my top team.

I'm just shocked you play P Groove, Justin. I play a few P groovers, and aside from their ability to parry and get a free hit, they don't have much to bring to the table. Then again, parrying is only useful against fireballs to gain meter, and to punish jump-ins.

Also... Guile? I know you said that before... but still. I don't see that but ever.

I don't play CvS2 very often but my team: Team CED-Cheese: Mai(1), Athena(1), Iori(2) - S Groove

Basic strategy: Mai and Athena are my cheap aerial attack bitches with some fireballs thrown in between while Iori is there because I'm one cheap mofo with him, especially with the desperation supers. I never said I was any good with CvS2, did I?

If your good at parrying (which I'm not) you can avoid almost any attack (even supers), which makes you pretty damn lethal if you know how to parry.

Right now, tho it changes often:

Ken R2(of course)

Iori

Vice or Rock

-OR-

Ken, Ryu, Akuma R2

-OR-

Ken

Vega

Rock

I'm probably still pretty shitty, considering I'm not down with that whole "rolling" thing. I never played enough SF3 to be good with P. I just stick to C groove and play like it's SFA3 all over again.
