The One and Only Religion Thread

Actually, God (apparently) chooses to not know what will happen and when it will happen (the end of the world). This can be seen when Jesus doesn't know when the world will end, and from this you can assume the final judgement is unknown to God (since He chooses so) and he doesn't know where anybody will go (heaven or hell.)

So God's just intellectually lazy? :P

It's an interesting argument, though. Taken at face value, it's another knock against the alleged perfection of the Judeo-Christian god, since intellectual laziness and willful ignorance are not aspects of perfection.

I'd just like to say that I'm slightly annoyed by those that say Satanism isn't evil, and doesn't actually promote the worship of the devil, cause it's not true

Satanists worship self-indulgence and gratification. "Satan" just happens to be the easiest way to personify that.

I'm a Roman Catholic, and I was raised as a Jesuit, but I despise the Pope and I loathe Bible-thumpers like RobJohnstone - who rarely even understand Christianity, let alone philosophy or science. I accept the fact of evolution and deep time. I acknowledge every single inconsistency in the Bible and Christian dogma. I think there are huge gaps in the idea of an omnipotent, omniscient, and benevolent God. This pretty much sums up my feelings on the matter:

I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that it may incriminate me.

Let me put it this way, If you do, do you think it's because of the way you were raised, or is it real faith? That's something I'm always curious about when conversing with the religious. Faith baffles me.

That question goes for anyone else feeling faithful, too.

I believe in god, just about everyone does. Even those who say they don't. It is human nature to believe in a higher power.

I don't believe in organized religion. I think it takes the pureity out of faith. I see it more for polticial gain(the past, and places in the present). And reason for blind hatird(Isreal vs the middle east). I think if people weren't so gun ho about organized religion, there wouldn't be problems like they are in parts of the world.

I am not a big fan of organized religion. I just see no purpose in it, it never really seems to cause anything but trouble (violence, hatred, people becoming assholes my roommate for two years was a big "You're a sinner" type). I do believe in a God-like being because of science. The Law of Conservation of Matter states that matter can not be created or destroyed only changed, according to my logic that means someone or something had to get the ball started. I do not believe that there is a God looking down at people and caring what happens one way or another he/she/it just wound up the watch and is watching as it slowly counts itself down.

Rob Van Dam died on the cross for my sins. I know that if I follow after Him, and if I frequently indulge in "the sacrament", then after I die I will go to a land where RVD/Angle is the headliner at every PPV and Taker does jobs for Funaki.

That's more like Purgatory. Heaven would have Benoit/Angle, or possibly Benoit/Angle/Eddy

Hey, what does a dyslexic, agnostic insomniac do?

Stays up all night, wondering if there is a dog.

Well, now that you mention it, for a long time I was actually atheist/agnostic, but I decided to renew my faith when I realized that too many people in this world get undeservedly screwed for there to not be a cosmic balancing of the scales after death.
