Guest Last Warrior Report post Posted October 22, 2002 Apparently, Gregory "Hurricane" Helms has some heat backstage for being very tight with fellow comic book fan, and head writer for RAW, Brian Gewirtz. Helms' natural shyness and quietness are also making him less popular. [source: PWTorch Newsletter] Heat with who. People who don't like comic books? I am not having a go at the torch but i can't believe this. He may have heat because he has a mutual interest with the head writer. mmmm, people must be really worried about him taking their spots, i mean after all he has vince's ideal build for a main event superstar doesnt he. And who on earth would dislike someone for being quiet. Can you imagine the conversation. HHH: That helms guy is so damn quiet! Steph: He does put on good matches and is getting a pretty decent pop. HHH: you have to think of the lockerroom morale. Steph: You're right of course, what do you reccomend to fix the situation. HHH: Well even his might hurri-powers are no match for velocity. Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 22, 2002 Every can get heat for any stupid thing...this is just blown out of proportion...but the comic book thing answers questions to The head writers mental state.

Guest evilhomer Report post Posted October 22, 2002 I saw the title and I thought it would be for pulling off the Vertabreaker Sunday. That has got to be one of the dumbest reasons I can think of for a backstage problem. Maybe uh someone uh has uh a uh problem with uh someone using new and uh exciting moves and uh is uh using this crap as a uh cover story.
Guest mach7 Report post Posted October 22, 2002 It makes me laugh that a bunch of grown men can act like this. Wrestlers & politicans - why do they have so much in common? Immaturity seems to be one of those traits...
Guest Last Warrior Report post Posted October 22, 2002 I don't think that we are talking about a majority of wrestlers here though. I think we are dealing with a very vocal, powerful minority who more often than not get their way. Naming no names of course. I don't know wHo would do a tHing like tHat? It is pretty amazing that "allegedly" a guy nailing the bosses daughter has no heat while getting more than a half hour a show, but Helms does....
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted October 22, 2002 Apparently, Gregory "Hurricane" Helms has some heat backstage no shit. Have you been watching Raw lately?
Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted October 22, 2002 I read about this. But it was different. "Hurricane Helms has alot of heat at the moment with many of the boys. Firstly they don't like how close he is to fellow comic book fan and RAW writer Brian Gerwitz. He also has been giving advice to many of the RAW roster guys on how to improve their in ring work and this is advice has caused many to think he thinks he knows better than the veterans." Guest Brian Report post Posted October 22, 2002 The vibe I got was that people were a little mad over him notwanting to participate in the ladder match.
Guest Last Warrior Report post Posted October 22, 2002 The vibe I got was that people were a little mad over him notwanting to participate in the ladder match. This would seem to be a more likely cause of the heat. However in some ways he can be respected for his principles and in other ways he could be detested for not doing the job he is paid well to do. Guest Brian Report post Posted October 22, 2002 Well, the way they'd look at it, he got to RAW and got shoved to the forefront of the tag division, coupled with a main eventer and plenty of potential exposure, yet he refused to work a showcasing main event. Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted October 22, 2002 Why did he not want to do the ladder match? I did not hear about that.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 22, 2002 Was he asked to take a Serious spot or something? Only thing that makes sense to me....It's not like Helms to pull a power play.
Guest snowfan Report post Posted October 22, 2002 Was he asked to take a Serious spot or something? Only thing that makes sense to me....It's not like Helms to pull a power play. I hear he has serious issues with ladders because of safety. *not "his"* he sees it as a bad example to the backyard wrestlers...

Guest snowfan Report post Posted October 22, 2002 Considering the fact that he is a product of backyard wrestling... I agree... I think he is worried that he and the Hardys were lucky and just doesn't care to be a bad example anymore. Sort of like Foley.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 22, 2002 Foley really wasn't a backyarder...He just did a few stunts...Hardyz and Helms created an actual foundation based upon wrestling outside on tramps and shit.
Guest snowfan Report post Posted October 22, 2002 Foley really wasn't a backyarder...He just did a few stunts...Hardyz and Helms created an actual foundation based upon wrestling outside on tramps and shit. Yeah I know, but you'll have to forgive me when I think that Foley saying, "hi I'm a millionaire who can retire at 36 and follow my dreams who is notorious worldwide for sick bumps" while saying "don't do it" is funny. I respect the Hardys moxie on their fed in all honesty, but some of the junk going on now is breathtakingly stupid.
Guest Repo Man jr Report post Posted October 22, 2002 If I were an under pushed wwe superstar I'd be getting myself down the comic book store pretty sharpish. A Super Man t shirt wouldn't go a miss either... I remember "Greg" saying he never wanted to do another ladder match a while back. Shame because he has the look and moves of someone who would be in ladder matches.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 22, 2002 He did ONE ladder match with WCW...Did something happen that made him like this?
Guest Repo Man jr Report post Posted October 22, 2002 I don't know what happened but it was after that he said he wouldn't do another.
Guest Brian Report post Posted October 22, 2002 I think he's seen enough ladder matches in the indies and seen what Jeff's done, as well as been in his own. I think the Serial Thrillaz/Hardys series may have incorporated a few ladder spots, but I've only seen one of them and haven't seen it in a while.
Guest cynicalprofit Report post Posted October 22, 2002 He's probably got heat becaue he's over and certain ppl dont like that. Can you really blame a guy for not wanting to risk his body when he's seen first hand what ladder matches do to ones body. I cant. I mean it wasnt even a ppv, it had no reason to even be on the show, it cheapened what a TLC could be, again. I mean they used it for a ratings pop, Helms probably saw it and said no. Dont blame the guy at all. Sides, if the finish was still gone be the same, he'd have taken all the bumps just to watch Kane grab the belt after talking a few. That would have made him look worse. The heat would be better created over using the VB because that is a dangerous as all hell move. Didnt he have 2 ladder matches in WCW, I know of the 6 man, but wasnt there a hardcore ladder match ro something like that against saggs or knobs? I know a ladder was atleast used since i have it on tape somewhere.
Guest Mulatto Heat Report post Posted October 22, 2002 In addition to the 6-man one at Starrcade 2000, I seem to recall a couple of ladder matches from the summer of 2000 with the Jung Dragons.
Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted October 22, 2002 I wouldn't want to do another ladder match sanctioned by the WCW either........ Those guys are lucky to be alive.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted October 23, 2002 He also has been giving advice to many of the RAW roster guys on how to improve their in ring work and this is advice has caused many to think he thinks he knows better than the veterans. What's he thinking? Only real locker room leaders like HHH are allowed to do that. If he took good notes, he'd know that to be a leader you must: 1) lecture all the boys that they need to work harder/better 2) go out and punch & kick you way through a ME 3) go home & sleep w/ the owner's daughter

I respect the Hardys moxie on their fed in all honesty, but some of the junk going on now is breathtakingly stupid. Since when is Foley a millionaire? He's financially set, but he's not a millionaire. And there's nothing wrong with a wrestler saying don't do stupid stuff in your backyard. Last I heard Foley has trouble even tying his shoes because of the pain.
Guest Brian Report post Posted October 23, 2002 I wouldn't be surprised if Foley's am illionaire with some of the big gates he's been apart of, the endorsements, and books.
Guest Zero_Cool Report post Posted October 23, 2002 The problem with Foley is that coupled with the injuries from getting his ass kicked all those years, he's well over 300 pounds, which for a guy who's not much over six feet tall, and not to mentioned nearly crippled from wrestling, is pretty unhealthy.
