Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted March 2, 2002 by Dave Meltzer [email protected] Bret Hart will reveal in tomorrow's column in the Calgary Sun that he was offered a spot in Wrestlemania. The proposal, made by Carl DeMarco of WWF Canada, was for Hart to appear, unadvertised, as the referee in the Chris Jericho vs. HHH WWF title match. Hart turned down the proposal and the appearance, but did briefly consider it. In other Wrestelmania news, the tag team title match has been changed from Billy & Chuck vs. APA to a four-way which would also include the Hardys and Dudleys. Guest Army Eye Report post Posted March 2, 2002 Wow. Can't wait to see Bret's comments on that. That four-way should be a lot better than the plain old' APA/Billy Chuck match. Good move there.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Report post Posted March 2, 2002 damn it i wish he had i would've marked so HARD, but hey at least he considered it a little that's an improvment.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted March 2, 2002 If Hart's music hit to ref the match (especially unadvertised)...Damn... I'm kind of surprised he even considered it though.
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted March 2, 2002 Yeah, I'm also surprised he considered it. It would of been cool had he accepted.
Guest TheDames7 Report post Posted March 2, 2002 If Bret's music hits during WM.....you will see 70,000+ Canadians covered in my ejaculate. Dames
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted March 2, 2002 It would be tough to find a bigger fan of Bret Hart's career than me.....but I don't want him to return for several reasons. 1. Vince is scum and If nothing else, Bret has stood on his principles about everything that has happened. Bret could make a ton of money returning to the WWF in ANY capacity but chooses not to, i'd hope, out of principle. I admire that. And don't bring up Montreal because I think that vince was in the right on that one. 2. Bret is done. Goldberg kicked him harder than I thought. After watching the WA ppv, I realized how bad of shape Bret is in. His promos were never the best but he couldn't even string together a coherent sentence. I find that sad. 3. In staying firm on my stance, I don't want any old guyd, including Bret and HBK, coming back. It's time to make new stars and create a new fresh product. Even ifbret came back as a guest ref, I don't see how it helps the younger guys at all. It would be nice but pointless.
Guest Army Eye Report post Posted March 2, 2002 If Hart's music hit to ref the match (especially unadvertised)...Damn... Oh man. The Skydome would've gone completely ape shit. I can't even imagine the pop
Guest cobainwasmurdered Report post Posted March 2, 2002 dames you'll also be covered in ejaculate. i think everyone knows that canadians regard Bret Hart as a hero, we love him, i have friends that can't stand wrestling, but mention Bret Hart and they'll go on and on about how great he is. Guest TheDames7 Report post Posted March 2, 2002 As much as I would love to see the man, I agree with you goodhelmet...but only on the first example that you had. Part of me would think that Bret sold out and I wouldn't want to ever think that. Dames
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted March 2, 2002 If it was a one time thing...It would have been awesome.
Guest TheDames7 Report post Posted March 2, 2002 Wow...Cobain, thanks for giving me an image which will keep me up at night for the next few months. Thousands of Canadian men all ejaculating in my direction. Jesus.... *pukes* Dames
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted March 2, 2002 "Wow...Cobain, thanks for giving me an image which will keep me up at night for the next few months. Thousands of Canadian men all ejaculating in my direction. Jesus.... *pukes*" LMAO I guess I didn't consider the Canada factor. But if you want a cheap pop, just put Wayne Gretzky out there, or give ringside seats to the Canada hockey team. Same effect. "Part of me would think that Bret sold out and I wouldn't want to ever think that. " And that's why I admire his turning down the offer on principle. He hasn't sold out to McMahon. I hope it has to do with Owen's memory.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted March 2, 2002 I respect the Bulldog more for honoring Owen's memory by RETURNING to the WWF. It's not Vince's fault.
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted March 2, 2002 Maybe Vince wanted to sign Bret away from the WWA.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Report post Posted March 2, 2002 i don't want to talk about whether vince should have been held accountable but enough said to say i disagree with bps21. and bret's rufusel to come back isn't just about montreal and owen he also thinks the content is inappropriate(at times i agree) which makes me respect him more than ever. you can't say bret has no honor. and Dames your welcome have a good sleep. Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted March 2, 2002 "I respect the Bulldog more for honoring Owen's memory by RETURNING to the WWF." I don't understand how Bulldog returning honored Owen Hart. Plus, I wasn't insuinating or een wanna discuss who's to blame for Owen's death. I should have been more clear on this so here goes: When Bret was in the WWF, Owen was there with him. If he returned to that atmosphere, the WWF, Owen would not be there and I would hope that Bret would find that too painful of an atmosphere to be in without his little brother. Guest TheDames7 Report post Posted March 2, 2002 Even though he said no.....I'm going to be prepared to mark out if he changes his mind. *pukes* I'm gonna need to get some Jericho-esque boots to make my way through the knee-deep-in-ejaculate Skydome. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted March 2, 2002 Bulldog dedicated his last run to Owen and returned to the WWF to show that he wanted to make amends. Hell...Stu and Helen were even in attendance once.
Guest RedJed Report post Posted March 2, 2002 I REALLY wish he would have taken it, to be honest. His role in the WWA is useless, and like it or not, his true career started and ended in the WWF. Now is the time to get over everything between Vince and himself (hey Hogan is back, that has to say something) for closure within himself at least (seeing as the reality of it all IMO is that Vince HAD to do what he had to do AND of course he didn't "kill" Owen) and make the fans happy, plus I'm sure Vince would let Bret get the upper hand on him if he came back, just to make Bret happy too. I personally feel that until Bret faces the reality of all of the past situations, it will continue to haunt him. He needs closure and this is the only way to do it. To a degree I admire that he stands by his feelings towards the situation, but quite frankly I think the fact that he is doing that is just hurting him more than helping. Only gripe is that I wouldn't have him the exact role as this, well kinda......what I would probably do is that lets say Vince makes himself special ref for HHH-Jericho as soon as next week so it's known going into the show that he is ref. Well to counteract Vince, Flair makes Bret a special second ref for the match, which isn't announced right up until the beginning. Might overshadow the actual match, but damn, that would be awesome. Or another scenario, Jericho actually wins thanks to Vince and then after Flair comes out, says this isn't going to happen, Bret comes out in a refs shirt, beats the hell out of Vince, and then refs the rest of the match. Keep this is mind too, isnt the Raw after Mania in Montreal?? I think they had more of a plan than just wanting Bret for one shot here........
Guest cobainwasmurdered Report post Posted March 2, 2002 bulldog was SO not honoring Owen, it was all about the $$$$$. bulldog is scum anyway so if he's reading this FUCK YOU BULLDOG. sorry some people really get to me.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted March 2, 2002 Well he SAID he was honoring Owen. And that's fine with me. Did Stu and Helen go for the money too?
Guest TheDames7 Report post Posted March 2, 2002 I agree cobain, I don't see the honor in getting Rock Bottomed in dogshit for Owen. Dames
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted March 2, 2002 Excelent scenario RedJed! That would be a way to promote interest in the stale world title match...but I don't think Bret Hart would help HHH go over in any circumstance. "bulldog was SO not honoring Owen, it was all about the $$$$$. bulldog is scum anyway so if he's reading this FUCK YOU BULLDOG. sorry some people really get to me." I agree completely. Guest Tony149 Report post Posted March 2, 2002 Didn't Vince hire Bulldog back to look good for the lawsuit Owen's wife did?
Guest cobainwasmurdered Report post Posted March 2, 2002 i don't think stu and helen got paid the got comp'd seats but thats all, stu made enough money torturing young men in his basement(that DOESN'T sound right). whereas bulldog wasted his money on crack. and i bet you vince had bulldog say that he was returning for owen. it would make great PR
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted March 2, 2002 I think Stu and Helen were so out of it that they probably didn't have a clue (think Ronald Reagan). I believe the brother who runs the wrestling school (bruce, keith, whichever) did it to help keep his company afloat which is all about the Cash.
Guest RedJed Report post Posted March 2, 2002 I forgot to comment on the tag title match change. Still doesn't seem too interesting to me......I hate muti-team matches. They should seriously consider adding a gimmick to the match, maybe TLC4 or something. Or at least a no holds barred type match.
