I havent been a huge fan of Bret, but i would love to see him in there one last time. Preferably knocking out Vince!

bret just gained a *huge* amount of respect in my eyes for not coming back.  he rejected a *huge* paycheck, for what else than his own morals and self-beliefs.  while he may have many faults, he is standing up for what he believes in, and unlike many older wrestlers seems to know when to move on (i know he is involved with wwa).

on a couple of other notes:

chuck and billy will *suck* in a TLC match, they dont have the style, moves or suitable psychology for it, it would be a trainwreck.  also they are too big and slow, and we dont need them shitting on the legacy of what has produced some *awesome* matches.

also, this new board *used* to totally rock bells back in the day when the old board was still up.  the idiots couldnt find this place, and there was much intellectual conversation had by all.  then the old board closed and many found their way here, though there are still enough good and intelligent posters to counteract the *cancer* and *poison* of idiots and trolls.

Chuck and Billy in TLC match at Wrestlemaia = Bossman and Taker in a Hell In The Cell

no, it would be worse, just think of the greatest scene of total devastation you can imagine, and multiply it by 50!

although, bossman-taker was pretty damn bad...

I agree with everything mastermind said. You can't eat pride. If he had accepted the WrestleMania offer, sure, part of me would have thought he had sold out, but in the end, the pros would have outweighed the cons. He would have gotten a proper sendoff, he (and his fans) would have gotten some closure, and he would have gotten that footage that he has always wanted. I hope he gets it someday. Man, if he had shown up, unadvertised, and unspoiled by Meltzer & co., that would have the biggest markout moment of my life. I wouldn't have bukkaked the Skydome crowd, but I would have marked out hard.

I wonder if Bret would make a good booker for the WWF, in his present (post-concussion) condition. That was supposedly part of the 20-year deal he signed in 1996 (after he retired, he would have gotten some kind of "front office" job, probably involving booking), and I seem to remember SK writing a piece on how Bret had such a good booking mind for the business. Most of Bret's feuds & angles (except for some of the 1995 stuff) were really good and exciting (Owen, Backlund, USA vs. Canada), so there has to be some truth to that.

Areacode212 you beat me to the punch. I was just going to post what if the wwf gives this guy a position to book matches like Pat Patterson. If the split is suppose to happen the wwf will need someone who respects the wrestling aspect like Bret and I think the Thursday Nitro or SmackDown would be greatly helped in looking different than Raw with Bret putting input. It's not a bad idea having Flair and Hart coming up with booking the matches and some storylines. Two true legnedary WRESTLING icons. The wwf could do better in giving Bret an offer.

"But why would Bret demand the company to split off?"

He wouldn't. Like I said, the fact that Vince would get beaten and humiliated by Bret in returning would drive Vince to the brink of splitting his company off, also to spite Flair since he would have made that match on Raw.

It would have been awesome, but Bret would have looked like a hypocrite after all the things he's said. Now that he's said he'll talk to Vince I would like them to work out their differences the best they can and see Bret appear one more time in the WWF.

I don't think, booking-wise, Bret reffing the HHH/Jericho would make quite a finish for the match. If Bret raises the hand of Jericho, he would be raising the hand of the heel. It would either rub heel heat on Bret or rub face heat of Jericho, I don't believe the Fed would desire to do that. If Bret raises the hand of HHH, then he wouldn't be raising the hand of a Canadian. What if Jericho gets a lot of face heat and Bret raises HHH's hand? I believe that would be somewhat undesireable also. It would be more appropriate ***fantasy booking mode on*** to have Bret ref the Rock/Hogan match. It would probably be the last match, ending the PPV on a happy note and sending the fans home happy just in case a heel leaves WM as the World champ. Check it out, it Rock goes over, you have the Canadian hero raising the hand of the company's #1 babyface. Then you can add a couple of overbooked spots such as Bret putting Hogan in the Sharpshooter and punching Vince who would be coming to ringside to interfere. And everybody lives happily ever after, well, until the next PPV that is :)

Actually, I think it would be awesome for Bret to be included in the world title match. That's how he left the wwf. You guys want Jericho to keep his heel heat? All he has to do is say that he is Canada's only real legend all throughout the ppv and diss Bret. Jericho won't be cheered after that. Jericho will get big time heat.

Another thing Bret being in Hogan/Rock doesn't really add anything to that match. I said before Ultimate Warrior having a part in the match would be mark-out season. Just don't keep him around after being Rock's surprise cornerman.

My $0.02

About Bret coming back, I think that could be Awesome, but, after reading Slam's column, I agree with him.

In fact, way back in may/jun 2K1, Ben Miller wrote a great article (wrestleline) about this very issue, I'll try to post it soon, but he agreed with Bret comments.

And after all this years, Could YOU trust Vince again?

Now I'm as big of a Bret Hart fan as everyone on here, and everyone thinks its good he "at least considered it", but didn't he say in his article he wanted to do this so he could get photo and video archives of himself for his upcoming book?

What if Bret said he didn't accept the offer to swerve the fans? It would be ~THE ULTIMATE SWERVE~! Or not. still, I'd love to see him back
