I built a computer!

Recommended Posts

Guest EMAXSAUN

I finally decided to build my own computer:

Here are the specs:

AMD ATHLON XP 1800+

512 MB PC 2100 DDR RAM

40 GB 7200 RPM HD

Motherboard: MSI NFORCE K7N420PRO

(This motherboard is sweet because it has intergrated LAN, which is fast, and it also has a built in Geforce2 MX and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. Both of which are great, and I will upgrade the sound to SB Audigy and the video card to a GF4 once I get the $, but this is a nice solution for now.)

56x CD ROM

32x12x48 CD RW

16x DVD

WinXP Pro

6 USB Ports

56k modem

17" .21mm dot pitch monitor: KDS X-Treme Flat

Um yeah thats about it, I bought some gamepads so I could plax playstation games on it with Bleem! and EPSXE (ps emulators) and the intergrated sound card came with this thing called a CNR card for attaching extra speakers to it, so I just plugged the CNR card into the back of my stereo, so I now use my stereo speakers both both my stereo and my computer.

Cost: Roughly $800

I bought all the parts from:

Pretty swank computer.

Question: How can you play Bleem! on Windows XP? Whenever I switched from ME to XP, Bleem! crapped out on me.

Heh... I have the Gamepad Pro, too.

yeah i used bleem while i had 98, but now i use EPSXE http://www.epsxe.com/ and it runs even more games than bleem does, but it just takes some time to configure and itsnt as user friendly, and i think u may need to download the BIOS file somewhere (Scph1001)

Congrats man. It feels great when you build it yourself huh? Well every time I build one I get this feeling in my spine, hope it's not scoliosis though. Those Nforce boards are pretty nice.

Yeah the Geforce MX isn't that great, but hey it's pretty decent. Also the onboard sound for these new nforce boards are pretty damn good. I plan on using the onboard sound when I upgrade to an nforce board.

Hey what game pads did you buy for it?? Do they resemble psx controllers?

Again Nice computer you got their, and you can tell people that you put it together with your OWN HANDS! You have to shout that part out like a crazy mad man for full effect.

Whoa didn't see the part where you added the geforce and audigy. Wow you are right it's a beast.

yeah the gf2mx is decent but i do a lot of 3d modelling on my computer using 3dmax and blender so it wasnt cutting it for me, but its decent for games. the onboard sound was fine but i got an audigy when i had the $ cause it looked cool ^_^

also i bough one gamepad pro and i bought one generic one, but get gamepad pro, it looks just like a psx controller, without anaglog sticks, and it is very responsive, and its USB.
