Fucked up

I'm still kinda bugged out about this. Today I was supposed to have my Criminal Justice midterm, but it was cancelled. Unfortunately, my professor was diagnosed with terminal cancer and flown up to Boston this past weekend so that he could be with his family. Now...part of me is annoyed, because I studied my ass off for this test, and it's kinda inconsiderate for the department not to inform the class of the situation before hand (they have our e-mails, so it wouldn't have been that hard), and of course I feel really bad for my professor right now. It's weird because last week he was all happy and joking around with us, and then the next thing you know he's on his deathbed. And It's really a shame too, because he's a nice guy. I dunno, this thing just really makes me think of how short life can be.

Just venting. Carry on

That sucks. Man. That was the same with my grandma. She was fine one week and the next she passed away from cancer. Apparenatly it had been growing bigger and bigger for some 20 odd years.

I'm sorry... I keep worrying that something like that's going to happen to my dad; it really freaks me out.

I think all deaths to people you know hit you alittle hard and make you realize life is short. I've had friends almost die, I've had a friend who's had a life I sure as hell wouldn't want. I think you look at things in a different light when death comes into play. Most of the time, you don't spend your time wondering about death so when it arises its fresh on your mind and you begin to think.

I do agree with you thought papacita, universities do have your email address and they could inform you of the situation beforehand, so you know how to deal with it accordingly. You are thrown into a tight spot. Like you mentioned you are ticked that you studied your ass off for nothing, yet you do feel bad for the events.

No one close to me has died.. I'm pretty much terrified that, when someone does, it will be one of my parents. Uhm, anyway.

Damn...

EDIT: Re-wording.

But its a hard issue to deal with regardless. That's why we tend not to think about it all the time. It would make us worry and wonder about alot of things. But it doesn't have to be someone close to you for you to still get the effect

One of my friends died a couple of years ago, and that was rough. I damn near broke down at the funeral.

I've had a few of those and its really hard. What I really hate is my boss. Her soon to be ex husband committed suicide 2 years ago this December (the day before my birthday) and its so hard to watch her. And what's even worse is going to her house and knowing where he did it and everything. I know that has got to be the worst feeling for anyone.

No offense, but how can a person who has been dead for two years be a "soon to be ex" husband?

Before he killed himself...they were in the process of a divorce.

And since he isn't here now, obviously, she can't get a divorce so she is widowed

I've had to bury too many friends and family members. There was a year when it seemed every 2 or 3 months, someone I was close to died. Suicides and car wrecks, and there's no preparing for that.

I've lost my father to cancer. Being there at his funeral was excruciatingly painful. That feeling that ravages the pit of your stomach was enough to drive me to the edge of suicide through depression for the following 4 months.

That's pretty rough, BF. I don't even go to funerals anymore. The last one I went to was the one for my grandparents.

Both the grandparents on my Mom's side are dead.

As for my Dad's side, my grandfather isn't doing terribly well. I know in the back of my heart that I'll be burying him before I graduate from college (frosh now). As for my grandmother, I don't know.

As many times that I've wished that my Dad would just hurry up and die before, I don't know what I would do if I had to bury one of them within the next 5-10 years.
