Guest BoboBrazil Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 These are some early spoilers from wrestlingobserver.com: The highlights of the Smackdown show were: Rikishi b Matt Hardy - Big Show ran in after and choke slammed Rikishi and challenged Lesnar for the title They did an angle where Angle & Benoit got a trophy from Stephanie for winning the tag titles. Both guys argued over who was the captain. It wound up with Stephanie taking an accidental bump and guess what, the trophy broke Noble b Tajiri to keep the cruiser belt in about 5:00 Edge & Mysterio b Guerreros in a good match. Looks to set up Angle & Benoit vs. Edge & Mysterio rematch. Can't complain about that Big angle. Undertaker called out Lesnar. Heyman noted that Lesnar beat Undertaker in his own specialty. Undertaker used the injury as an excuse to a point, but said that five years ago, broken arm or broken leg, he'd have won the match. Kind of portrayed Undertaker as over the hill. I wouldn't want to do it that way. Show came out and guess what. Show took credit for Lesnar's win. See, Show gave Undertaker such a beating in all those 2:00 squash matches that he lost that Undertaker wasn't the same guy anymore. Since Show is being given the big push, Undertaker agreed. Show ended up throwing Undertaker off the stage and they did a long injury angle which looked to write Undertaker off. Seems to set up Lesnar vs. Show as the main event feud. You can kiss next month's buy rate goodbye. Kidman b Cena using the ropes. You know the 50/50 drill. Benoit b Angle when Chavo & Eddy interfered. Benoit didn't know they laid Angle out when he pinned him. Good match but heat was said to be disappointing. Not much heat after the Undertaker angle for the rest of the show.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 So... Show gets to put Taker out...not Brock.. and Now Show gets a title shot? *shakes head*
Guest Just call me Dan Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 I could see this happening as a mini-feud, like the Hogan-Lesnar thing, in an attempt to make Lesnar look uber strong for his Survivor Series opponent, but I seriously doubt Heyman would allow that Lesnar/Show feud to be anything more. And Matt Hardy should be facing higher opponents or at least pinning Rikishi, it makes me sick to see a potential break-out star like him be given a lot of camera time and a slick entrance to go along with a great new character, and then get the trademark Rikishi squash. How pathetically useless.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 Well... The Lesnat/Show feud has already taken up one of the 4 weeks before the ppv... and they haven't had the match yet. Which means that If Lesnar gets a different opponent, it'll only have 2 weeks of build at most. Plus...Angle and Benoit appear to be busy with 4 other people at this point.
Guest AndrewTS Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 Ouch... Well, aside from that minor indescretion, looks good. bps: sent a private message--need title changed on my profile.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 So who got traded to Raw? I thought it might be Rakishi, but I guess Matt Hardy needed to be put in his place.
Guest AndrewTS Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 Isn't it Bautista? It's gotta be, right? Oh, and thanks bps!
Guest Just call me Dan Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 Andrew, just amend your profile and type it in the first slot where it says Custom title. It's probably just going to be explained as Batista. Bischoff may say that he got rid of the Big Show because he had his own ideas about a "monster" Smackdown misused Batista and he will now make him his personal project. I can see the grin now.
Guest BoboBrazil Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 It will probably be Albert that gets traded. Ross was going on about how he was going to get main show airtime in the upcoming weeks.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 You can't edit your own title until after 1000 posts I think
Guest midnight_burn Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 Well, we go from one slow, lumbering, shitty wrestler with a chokeslam feuding with Lesnar, to another slow, lumbering, even shittier wrestler with a chokeslam feuding with Lesnar. Goody.
Guest Just call me Dan Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 I didn't know that. Can things get any worse?
Guest AndrewTS Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 You can't edit your own title until after 1000 posts I think Yeah, I looked all over for that feature--don't have it yet. Couple weeks more I guess... And at least Taker and Show aren't going to both be on SD, so at least there's that. Plus, Rey, the Guerreros, Edge, Benoit, Kidman, Angle, Noble and Tajiri are all wrestling. I can live with that, especially if the crowd are showing they hate the Show push and Ortontaker speeches.
ChrisMWaters Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 You know what I'm hoping for... Brock to F5 Big Show. Don't know why, I just want to see that.
Guest AndrewTS Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 I didn't know that. Can things get any worse? BotH of us know tHe answer to tHat. May he stay on the shit show forever.
Guest DJ Jeff Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 The only upside I can see to a Lesnar vs. Big Show fued, is that the Big Show will get somewhat of a push, and face the WWE Champion, Lesnar, at the Survivor Series. Hey, he might surprise us, you never know.
Guest KingOfOldSchool Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 You can't edit your own title until after 1000 posts I think Yeah, I looked all over for that feature--don't have it yet. Couple weeks more I guess... I'm at just over 600, and I can see the Custom Title box. If I'm able to change my own thing, then you should be too. Go to your Control Panel, click on the Edit Profile link, it should be there. It looks to be a good show, except for the main event angle and Matt's unnecessary loss. Although I think the angle will end up being salvagable.
Guest KingOfOldSchool Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 I didn't know that. Can things get any worse? BotH of us know tHe answer to tHat. May he stay on the shit show forever. Well, he does have that job to Benoit that he needs to cash in.
Guest Just call me Dan Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 Jeff, I'm not one to bash anyone, but what the hell was your point to that statement? I think they are going for that. Kind of like the few Goldberg/Giant feuds a few years ago when the announcers would orgasm over the question "Can Golbderg Jackhammer this Giant?" So I guess that is the big payoff. Brock F5's Show, and the crowd pops for that and that only in the match. The flipside to this is that Taker was put out by Wight, which in turn would mean upon his return UNDERTAKER would feud with Show.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 Every week I go "They must have done that on purpose. No one's that stupid". And, I mean, it pales in comparison to HHH humping a dummy, but a Big Show push? Seriously, how does this stuff happen? I just don't understand how you can say "Big Show Push" in a room full of writers and no one says "uh....is that a good idea?" But at least it's good to see Show solidifying that face turn by severly injuring the highest ranking face on the show. Not Rikishi. Actually, injuring Rikishi would be a great way to get face heat. Anyway, point is, I continue to be amazed by thier stupidity. PS - what the hell is Show talking about, softening up Taker? Was I high or something?
Guest midnight_burn Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 The flipside to this is that Taker was put out by Wight, which in turn would mean upon his return UNDERTAKER would feud with Show. I can't wait for that enthralling feud to come about.
Guest Just call me Dan Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 "PS - what the hell is Show talking about, softening up Taker? Was I high or something? " If you were in the creative team's conference room you were.
Guest thebigjig Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 And now for my expert analysis shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit... shit Okay I'm done
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 Okay, apparently I'm the ONLY PERSON who noticed that Bautista was under contract to D-VON and thus was able to leave for Raw when D-von fired him. Stephanie even chided D-von about it on Smackdown once, saying that he'd better not screw up again or something after he fired Bautista and left him free to go to Raw. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest kane3212321 Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 The thing I don't get is why they aren't slow burning the Benoit/Angle fued. They should have built an uneasy alliance instead of just snapping one show after winning the tag titles or at least lose them a couple months down the track and blame each other instead of rushing the angle out.
Guest DeputyHawk Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 the fact they've been showing batista vignettes on raw's a bit of a give, too.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 No, I meant that people keep asking how on Earth Bautista can be on Raw when he's a Smackdown talent, even though, for once, they DID explain something. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest J*ingus Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 Bautista IS on Raw, and I have PROOF! ... ...or, at least, I saw him and Rico at the nudie bar after the show last night...
Guest tombstone Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 Calm down. I've tried fantasy booking for the Survivor Series and usually end up with Lesnar doing nothing for about two weeks (a squash of Matt Hardy and then a cruiser or Rikishi was the best I came up with). So Lesnar KILLS Big Show next week in the first hour ME when Eddie & Chavo lose out to Angle & Benoit after Edge & Rey run in and interfere. This can then go two ways. The HIGH road. Lesnar - Show gets embroiled in the larger tag team scene setting up a SD! Survivor Series ME of Angle, Benoit, Edge & Rey vs. Eddie, Chavo, Brock & Show or some combination of same. This gives the Cruisers a match on the PPV as well as a Matt Hardy match and maybe some more TNA. The LOW Road. Steph sets up a triple threat ladder match for the tag titles at Survivor Series, (that's work and buyrate hommes) and lets Lesnarb KILL Big Show in a token ME (also allowing the HHH - Kane rematch to be the ME of the whole show after four consecutive SD! main events) OR The Middle road. The tag scene is so chaotic in week 2 (next week) that Stephanie enters Angle, Benoit, Big Show, Edge, Eddie, Rey, Matt Hardy & Chavo in a one night no.1 contenders tourney (seven matches, great 'concept' show). Pick a winner from Benoit - Angle - Edge to face Brock at the PPV. In week three Steph has the 3 way ladder match which is then decided when Brock kills his PPV opponent, handing the titles to another team. This gives a SD! Survivor Series card of. Undisputed Title Brock © vs. Angle - Benoit - Edge Tag Team Titles Angle & Benoit or Edge & Rey vs. Eddie & Chavo Angle or Benouit vs. Big Show or Matt Hardy Cruiser-weight Title Jamie Noble © vs. Billy Kidman 0r Rey Mysterio See, its not that bad, and we get a TLC match with talented people in it as well. It'd be almost impossible to book SD! badly at this point.
Guest Nater Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 or.. Show is a piece of crap and gets shot in the leg by an unknown fan/hater..
