Guest HBK16 Report post Posted March 2, 2002 If anybody caught the episode, did you think they should have aired it? When they got kidnapped it made me think of Daniel Pearl and I was thinking it would have pissed off a lot of people if Kenny would have been killed by the Taliban. It had a lot of funny part too like making fun of Bin Laden like calling him a cock sucker using pictures of a rooster and a sucker. Calling him a Shit head with a picture of, well shit and a head. That's a MAJOR stretch. That episode was hilarious. "Terrorists is the craziest peoples" "So am I to understand there's been a Towlie-ban?"
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted March 2, 2002 Ever think they showed it to boost morale? Hey, maybe I'm not the only one, but does anybody else see a somewhat social/political message in South Park episodes lately?
Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted March 2, 2002 I thought the epsisode was hilarious. I liked how Cartman makes osama's life miserable. It was like watching a Bugs bunny cartoon. This was also after the Pearl tragedy, so I am sure the episode was made without the possibility comming to mind. Overall a good episode.
Guest teke184 Report post Posted March 2, 2002 That episode first aired in late 2001, so there was NO connection to Daniel Pearl when it was first aired. Any connections after the fact are coincidence.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted March 2, 2002 "Hey, maybe I'm not the only one, but does anybody else see a somewhat social/political message in South Park episodes lately?" I always catch political/social undertones in just about every South Park episode there is. That's what I like about the series. One of my personal favs. was the Underpants Gnomes and exploiting children in political ads... (paraphrasing here) "We're almost as shameful as Rob Reiner..." That line had me laughing for five minutes.
Guest Vyce Report post Posted March 3, 2002 Hey, maybe I'm not the only one, but does anybody else see a somewhat social/political message in South Park episodes lately? Yeah, always. That's what I love about South Park....it started just as a comedy show meant to offend you, and somewhere along the way it morphed into a comedy show meant to offend you / satire of modern society. My personal fave of the more recent ones was the Butters episode with the Andrea Yates / Susan Smith theme. The South Park version of Gary Condit FRIGHTENS me. Guest Shaved Bear Report post Posted March 3, 2002 my favorite epi of south park is when they do the civil war reenactment, and then they really started it again "its like the million man march except there are actually a million people"
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted March 4, 2002 I missed a couple of seasons due to moving and crappy cable companies, but one I recently saw dealing with a cult was great. It was when Jesus and all the other religious figures were actually a super-hero fighting group. Instead of having all these stupid "cultural awareness" days in school and retarded "diversity" fairs, this SP show should be played instead for everyone to see. After all, if Jesus and friends can bond together to stop a giant Lincoln from causing havoc, who says there can't be peace in the Middle East?

My favorite episode is the Scott Tenorman episode with the pubes. What an awesome ending that one had.
Guest teke184 Report post Posted March 4, 2002 I hated the Scott Tenorman episode because it was too cruel (something I thought I'd never say considering I'm a die-hard SP fan). As for the rest of the 5th season, it was great with few exceptions. The one with the BUTT-faced people was okay but not exceptional, and the one where the rich people moved to South Park was only funny to me because of a similar situation in my hometown (The majority of the No Limit Records crew moved into my hometown a few years ago). Guest El Satanico Report post Posted March 5, 2002 I didn't like the Osama episode very much. The episode to me reeked of Comedy Central demanding that Matt and Trey be more sensitive on this subject then they usaully are. It just didn't have the edgey feeling to it like you've come to expect from Trey and Matt. They usually handle subjects in a way that takes balls to do knowing that it will majorly piss some people off. About the social and/or political messages in episodes. They have been there since almost the very beginning. I don't think there was as much at first but it was there. They did it more and more as the show went on. Guest teke184 Report post Posted March 5, 2002 I don't think the political messages got too obvious until the Quintuplets episode or the Trapper Keeper episode with the election debacle.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted March 5, 2002 "the one where the rich people moved to South Park was only funny to me because of a similar situation in my hometown." Did you and your friends dress up as ghosts and try to scare away those cash-chuckers?
Guest teke184 Report post Posted March 5, 2002 No, but the rich rappers refused to pay their bills, which resulted in them being chased away from town by lawyers.
