Guest mach7 Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 I'm sure this point has been raised before, but I can't see a thread on the first page about it.. so. Ever notice that RAW seems to be moving more towards the change than you'd normally notice? Not just to Nitro, but for some reason.. something just gives me a gut feeling that they might change the name of the "fed" that RAW represents. Not necessarily to WCW, but to something. It's a small thing, but the titles.. Notice how all the titles on RAW start with World. World Heavyweight. World Tag. All the titles on Smackdown start with WWE. WWE Championship. WWE Cruiserweight. WWE Tag. It's possible.. probably won't happen. But possible. Thoughts?
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 It really deos seem kinda supicisious, but I doubt they're really going to go through with it. The names of the titles just seem to be more of the bookers being morons and not thinking things through(what a shock). Although, if it DOES happen, I really wouldn't be surprised.
Guest Pop Culture God Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 Why can't they just call the tag belts the "WWE US Tag Titles" ? A throwback to the NWA of the late 80's I know, but it still sounds better than the name they have.
Guest RenegadeX28 Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 I think it will happen soon. The elimination of most of the significant WWE belts, and the fact that most of them are callede World titles, of course it will happen.
Guest Quik Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 Hey now, the titles have names. There's the worthless tag belts, the T&A Title, and the Fake World Belt.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 Hey now, the titles have names. There's the worthless tag belts, the T&A Title, and the Fake World Belt. Aren't both fake at this point? One never leaves it's owner, and one is never defended outside of PPV, and it doesn't leave it's owner either. The only difference between Brock and Hunter's belt is that some have a belief that Vince will wake up and stop pushing Brock before he stops pushing HHH.
Guest DeputyHawk Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 how long does the tnn raw contract run for? i can see them running two feds until then, then just cutting half the roster, canning raw and just running the one show. they'll keep the 'world' title until that time just to keep the two programs distinct but i can't see them going through the effort of rebranding the whole raw identity. only problem is, the big money wrestlemania main has to be a title unification match surely, but if the tnn contract goes much beyond that they could well have the mw main result in some sort of no-decision. which would be almost like a final nail in the coffin of the fan base. sorry, went rather pessimistic there. shall go outside for a cigarette.
Guest DJ Jeff Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 That is a possibility, and it's something that I wouldn't mind to see happen. Though, I think the main reason for the RAW titles being called World belts and Smackdown titles being called WWE belts is to give both shows even more of a seperate identity. Here's an idea, instead of bringing back WCW, Bischoff could give the RAW brand a whole new name. Then, it would be totally seperate from Smackdown, and it wouldn't involve bringing back the name of a company that's dead.
Guest HartFan86 Posted October 24, 2002 Report Posted October 24, 2002 I was actually hoping WCW would come back this year....but seeing WWE's current product, having WCW come back would be in INSULT to the name.

THE BISCHOFF WRESTLING ORGANIZATION... ...wait, that doesn't work right.
