I just won Carrer mode with Bret and at the end, it gives a nice tribute bio to Bret...weird thing is, it claims "In the fall of 2000 (?) Bret was on the wrong end of a steel chair shot (?) to the head and was forced into early retirement."

Yes, that is one reason he was taken out of action. The Goldber incident, among other types of in-ring trama to his head forced him to retire, it wasn't ONLY the Goldberg kick.

It wasn't a chair shot, though. It was Goldberg's kick, Goldberg not knowing how to take a Figure Four on the ring post right, and something else....I'd think they could of just said something else but a chair shot?

A chair shot is what ultimately led to Bret retiring though, it isn't a lie what they say, it's true. After the Goldberg kick, Bret sustaind various other head trama, and that's that.
