Haiti and D.R.

I got a "Lonely Planet: Dominican Republic and Haiti" book recently and I've been going though it.

 

So, how many people here have been to Haiti or the Dominican Republic ever?

 

just a question..

 

i'd imagine that Haiti would sorta suck. Due to the poverty and all that. Not to mention they speak freaking Creole (and the most I have for foreign languages is Spanish, personal opinion there).

 

DR seems better than Haiti.. Baseball, monopolized beer (Presidente), cockfighting, legalized prostitution.

 

Both countries have had alot of screwups (Duvaliers, Trujillo), not to mention decade-long occupations from the US Marines.

 

also, I'm pretty sure both countries really don't like each other either.

 

any comments?
