Reason Why Mick Foley Pulled Out Of Byte This Appearance

 

Mick Foley was scheduled to appear on WWE Byte This tomorrow, however, pulled out of the show on Tuesday.

 

The reason that Foley decided not to do the show is because he apparently does not want to be associated with WWE right now, mainly due to the controversial necrophilia angle that the company ran on RAW last Monday.

 

Foley, now a fulltime author, markets his books to kids and probably did not want the potentially bad publicity of being on a WWE show hanging over him.

 

Interestingly enough, when Foley originally left WWE, he did so over disagreements with WWE's storylines and how he was being used.

I have watched Heroes of Wrestling, FWIW. It was MUCH worse than any WWE show this year. Although Raw Roulette comes close.

I love Mick....but isn't this just a tad hypocritical considering what his characters did in the past, and the matches they were involved in? I mean, even if you take the WWF/E stuff alone, I'm not sure that a lame necrophilia skit is more disturbing then a well-done crazyman living in a boilerroom talking about eating worms skit. And is Triple H arsing about with a dummy really more emotionally intense than Triple H stumbling around with a hole in his leg like he did at RR2000 in his match with Mick? I can understand Mick's point of view as a children's author, but still.

Uh no what happened on RAW was much worse. Mick's dungeon vignettes weren't that bad. They were actually pretty cool. And yes the Rumble match was brutal, but atleast it was wrestling where violence is expected and not some guy humpin' a corpse.

Most Americans, like me and Mick, don't have much of a problem with violence. Sex, especially WITH A FUCKING CORPSE (or references to it, or someone acting it out with a mannequin), is another matter entirely.

That's just the norm. for matches...there has to be some violence. And Foley's matches weren't all about just the brutuality....it's about how it added drama and buildup to the match.

 

If you remember, that's what his original plan was....having violence add drama to the match.

I love Mick, but I think if he a book coming out soon that he needed the WWE to shill he'd be on the damn show today. Its his right to do what he wants, but I think now that he thinks he doesn't need the WWE to have a writing career (something i disagree with) he can be a stronger critic than he was before.

 

Just my 2 cents. I didn't think the angle monday was offensive. Just stupid and mind-numbing and as non entertaining as humanly possible.

Why can't people admit they think it was offensive? If it put you off, it was offensive. Yet we'll all put up with PLENTY of stupid crap from the WWE before, but people seem to think they let the WWE get some sort of victory if they admit they think it was offensive.

 

I think it was offensive AND mind-numbingly stupid, as well as not entertaining.

after that, it was all downhill.

I would say it was more boring (lacking humor) than offensive (say actual corpses). All in all, poor writing still.

I don't claim that anything Mick was involved with in his WWF career was as offensive to some as a necrophilia skit, just saying that maybe the violence of some of his matches wasn't exactly kiddy fodder. He has a right to be offended, but I don't think he is in the greatest position to be an arbiter of what is offensive.
