Chances are they'll try to get the kid to tesify against the guy in return for a life sentence.

Even if he just gets life in jail, he isn't going to last long there. Hell, a guard will probably shoot him. I know I would.

"Why has this inmate been shot 75 times, with most of the bullets concentrated around his groin?"

"Uh, he was coming right for me with a shank, sir?"

"Very good."

apparently both have been seprately interogated. Muhamad has simply asked for lawyer, but apparently their plan of getting the kid to turn against the adult isn't working. He's been descibed as arrogant and uncooperative and has banged on the table and not answered questions. There goes any crackpot theories that the kid was "forced" to go along with it...

Dr. Tom, if Maryland doesn't use hanging, which state is it that does? Is that Delaware? I know there's one or two that's still holding out with death by hanging.

From a website about methods of execution:

Hanging is one of the oldest methods of execution around. The prisoner is weighed prior to the execution and the "drop" is based on the prisoner's weight (tables were developed in England in the 1800s), to deliver 1260 foot-pounds of force to the neck. Essentially, the prisoner's weight is divided into 1260 to arrive at a drop in feet. The idea is to ensure instant death, a minimum of bruising, and neither strangulation or beheading.

The noose is placed around the prisoner's neck, behind his/her left ear. This will cause the neck to snap. The trap door opens, and the convict drops.

Properly done, death is by dislocation of the third or fourth cerical vertibrae. If not properly planned and executed, strangulation, obstructed blood flow, or decapitation will occur.

Delaware, New Hampshire, and Washington state still allow hanging. More interestingly, Utah, Idaho, and Oklahoma still allow death by firing squad.

Damn, I wanted to see a public hanging. Now THAT would be a media circus.

Hey, it's post #1234!

Some state needs to adopt burning at the stake. THAT is a hardcore way to off someone.

Burning at the stake quite rightly faded from use. During periods where idiocy controls the day, like the Holy Inquisition and the Salem witch trials, you'll see it. But no society that believes in humanely executing its worst criminals will use it or even advocate it.

Don't get me wrong, there are several people I'd LOVE to see get swallowed by a fire. But it's not a viable method of execution on humane grounds.

Guillotine, yo. Quick & painless. And it'd be cool to see the head roll around a few times (provided they don't use a basket to catch it).

Hey, France had *1* good idea.
