Guest converge241 Report post Posted March 2, 2002 A lot can and will change between now and the start of the season, but just for the heck of it: Based off of what you think now, what are your predictions for playoff teams next year (4 division winners, 2 wild cards) and also the worst teams (however many) Mine: afc new england, pittsburgh, indy, oakland miami, cleveland nfc philly, chicago, tampa, st.louis san fran, washington bottom feeders: cinci, dallas, bills, baltimore
Guest thevertex Report post Posted March 7, 2002 AFC: New England comes down to earth and will be around 8-8, Miami is walking a tightrope every year and it may just catch up with them soon, Oakland could make the playoffs but every team in their division is improved, and I think this is the year father time catches up with them, Indy has no guarantees, all i've seen so far is they've lost a few O starters and haven't signed anyone for the D yet. Replacement picks: Definately Jets instead of Patriots, Indy/Oakland/Miami are all possible, as are Denver, Tennessee if they make the right moves. Imo the best bets to make the palyoffs right now are Pittsburgh who are in great shape, and Cleveland which has had a great offseason so far, just need to get a RB and a decent vet WR and they are easy 10-6. Cincinatti and San Diego will be pretty decent actually, both have good foundations for the future and could be playoff teams in a year. NFC: Wow, St. Louis is really scary good, they are a lock to make it. Philly has a great shot to repeat in the east. San Fransisco is likely to make the playoffs, as well as Green Bay if they can solve their WR problems. Seattle looks primed for the playoffs if their defense's age doesn't catch up with them. Replacements: Chicago seems like another New England and I think they will come down to earth, but you can't count them out, Tampa is just plain impossible to predict, but still is very talented and in a weak division, New Orleans has a LOT of talent but massively underachieves, and unfortunately I think my Giants are going down the NY Knicks route, but I hope i'm wrong on that. Picking the Redskins for the playoffs is crazy though, the only players worth shit they have are their tackles, Gardner their pick last year, Stephen Davis LaVar Arrington, and their secondary. Fun and Gun is going to bomb in the NFL, try last place in the NFC East.
Guest Kingpk Report post Posted March 7, 2002 The free agent period is a week old, why even bother with guesses yet? Anyway, a few thoughts: - Finally, Terry Glenn is gone from New England. Imagine, a guy this talented goes to the Packers for a 4th round pick. Shows how far his personal problems have hurt his value. - I'm sorry, but the Jets are going to suck and suck hard this year unless they get some talent via the draft or free agency. They lost their best CB to the Texans, Testaverde isn't getting any younger and Martin seems to be the only offensive threat in that offense. Same goes for the Ravens, as if their offense wasn't bad last season, now they need a WR, TE, and a QB (Bledsoe springs to mind). - The Pats aren't going "down to earth" next season. Smith is locked up, Brady should remain a good QB, and they'll have plenty of cap room to sign quality free agents, perhaps a solid TE or new reciever. As an early guess, I'll say 10-6. Too bad the Colts are out of the division now, that really hurts the competitveness of the AFC East.

Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 8, 2002 Why is it called the Bengal award and Not the Lions award? Lions NEVER do swat and never made it past round one...
Guest MikeSharp12 Report post Posted March 8, 2002 The Eagles are going to the Superbowl this year. I won't say if they'll win or not, but they'll be there.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted March 9, 2002 The Bengals since Mike Brown took over have been the laughing stock of the league. I realize that the Lions are bad, but the Bengals of the 90s will be long remembered as one of the worst runs ever by a professional sports franchise. Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted March 9, 2002 I think Pittsburgh channels the energy of Swann, Harris and Bradshaw and Lambert and all those guys and wins the whole damn thing. I don't think my Packers will even be in the running
