I've just started watching their TV programs since Scott Hudson and Jim Cornette are doing commentary. I noticed on the program today that the "Real" (Sarcasm Mode On) Living Legend Larry Z was cutting a promo on Jericho and McMahon. Which was kinda funny but probably the best segment of the program. I wasn't expecting a huge work rate on par with the WWF or the late WCW, but I was pleasantly surprised. I have a couple of Qs:

1) Are the shows at the Fairgrounds worth going to?

2) There was a lot of OVW talent on the program and on the card tonight, does this mean Nashville might get a developmental deal down the road?

Thanks

I can't answer the first question, as I watch USA on America One, and live too far away to attend the Fairgrounds shows, but I'm almost 100% sure that Bert will not be signing anything soon to make USA a developmental fed. I know that the WWF at one time were close to making NWA Worldwide (the old name for Bert's group) a developmental fed, but Bert signed with WCW at the last minute, which is why all those Nashville guys were on the final days of WCW Worldwide squash matches.

(P.S.: I'm sure that Jingus, one-half of the infamous "Nashville Smarks", alongside Trent Van Drisse, will be reading this post. So, I have to ask, what's with the running joke on Trent's board about you being Bart Sawyer's chauffer to the Wildside shows?)

Because I have been driving him down there, Bart's a "starving artist" type of wrestler and doesn't have a car.  (Wildside rules!)  Oh, and I'm nowhere near as infamous as Trent is, he's been pissing people off for years, while I'm a relative rookie at it.

As for JADM:

1. It depends.  Some nights they'll turn out a great show, and some nights they'll absolutely suck.  You can usually tell from the card they advertise on the TV show, the better the matchups, the more effort has been put into it.  On the other hand, if the main event is something like Doug Gilbert vs. Mike Rapada, you can skip it with a clear conscience.  Also, the big quarterly shows like the Tojo Memorial Show are usually worth going to.

2. I would be surprised if it happened.  Bert was rumored to have fucked up Mike Porter's NWA Worldwide's developmental deal with WCW back in 2000, and I've heard other rumors that Prentice isn't highly thought of in the WWF, aside from Cornette and Lawler.  (Editorial note: no, I don't know any of this for sure, I'm just passing along what I've heard.)

Truthfully, USA's shows have improved in leaps and bounds over the last few months, and they're getting near the old Memphis shows in terms of talent quality.

Well I noticed that at least the TV programs have a pretty high Production Value. When compared to the OVW which is almost too dark and seems to be taped on a betamax recorder. Although OVW has better talent...

I just might make it down to the fairgrounds one of these Saturdays...

You owe it to yourself to go to a show at the fairgrounds at least once in your life, even if it occasions driving several hundred miles and crossing international boundaries.  After the show, you further owe it to yourself to return to your hotel room and wash your hands wash your hands WASH YOUR HANDS OH GOD WILL THE TAINT NEVER COME OFF?

I thoguht Scott does the commentary for Wildside. And Jim Cornette I am suprised about. He's still with the WWF so why are they allowng him to do this?

Hudson did a few shows for Wildside as a favor to his old GWF buddy Steven "Don't Call Me De Truth or 'Prozac'" Prazak, and hasn't been back again. It's a #### shame, because Dan Wilson could learn so much about announcing and the business in general from having Hudson in the booth with him.

Cornette is buddies with Bert, and I'm pretty sure that Cornette has the "Lawler Clause" in his contract, letting him do commentary for Bert's shows.

If you want to attend a USA show any time in the near future, this Saturday is probably the time.  The main event is Jerry Lawler & Brian Christopher vs. David Flair and a mystery opponent, heavily rumored to be Ric Flair, and it looks like it might actually happen.  We've also got Larry Zybyzko vs. Chris Harris and Terry Taylor vs. James Storm in a loser-leaves-town match.  NWA Wildside is also represented on the show, with AJ Styles getting his rematch against new champion David Young, and Rick Michaels is facing the New F'n Show, Jerry Lynn.  Should be a helluva show.

Then again, the mystery partner could be Buff Bagwell, since Bert did the angle a couple of weeks ago with Buff turning on Brian.

By the way, Jingus, are you working for the USWO down there now?

I did some commentary for their TV show, but that's it for the moment.  I'd love to do it again sometime, but they've got a pretty good team right now in Tim Minor & Cat Taylor, both a couple of friends of mine, and I don't think that I'd really add anything at the moment.
