Lawler's take on Necrophilia angle

Recommended Posts

Guest welshjerichomark

lawler does make valid points, and he is right about a lot of things- i mean at least this angle, gross as it is has given us smart marks something to talk about, because although i can imagine it would be terrible to watch ,it has been fun to talk about

something like that. The pretense is that HHH has found something in Kane's closet that he's using to upset his Psyche. The more he berates Kane the more Kane gets pissed and does stupid shit, like losing the tag belts.

First: Murder and Necrophelia charges would be settled OUT of the ring, Fingers. Does anyone think it makes sense to have something so (attempting to be) serious be settled in a wrestling ring?

Second: Couldn't they have found a less goddamn stupid Soap Opera storyline to work on?

A few weeks before this, Kane was romantic with Terri. That only opens up, oh, I don't know, EIGHT MILLION STORYLINES NOT INVOLVING MURDER AND NECROPHELIA.

They can do better than this.

This whole thing is just for media attention since Vince is out of touch and desperate to become a billionaire again.

Not to mention they pretty much threw out all of Kane's past history for this.

i agree thay can do better.

But it won't stop me watching.

I'm not a big follower of Kane's history so i don't know how this infringes on it.

in the promo by Kane he said he was not charged by police. And the necrophelia bit is just an insinuation by HHH to antagonize Kane. It isn't a criminal issue.

If it were real, the only charges that would be brought are slander.

Anyhow, please let go of the ties to reality your trying to give wrestling. Half the reason i watch it is because its far removed from reality.

For instance, if someone got battered by a sledgehammer/chair/16 foot drop aiming to maim or kill someone, there would also be a reason for police involvement.

The whole POINT of wrestling is that is resolved in the ring. Fantasy style innit.

Nice to see another welsh bloke on the board

I'm not suggesting that assaults be subject to police investigations, because those start feuds. But more often than not, they involve/lead to things that can be settled with a good old fashioned fight.

Even mentioning murder is going too far, not too far as in offensive, but too far as in "This is just stupid."

Wrestlers are supposed to fight over respect. Over big gold belts. Over the fact that they hate each other.

Kane/Triple H were wholly indifferent to each other before Kane won the title shot. And the feud wasn't built on respect or belts...

but it isn't murder

its HHH accusing Kane of murder. Kane has already explained the whole thing.

I don't see a problem with it. Tacky story line, but thats nothing new.

Suspending belief can only go so far. There's a reason people "Ooh'd" and "Aah'd" over Austin/McMahon, and rolled their eyes at Evil Dark Undertaker of Doom trying to crucify Stephanie McMahon. There is a line, across which no amount of "suspending disbelief" will get you through it, and it's just plain stupid.

thats right.

There was nothing there.

So the pretense is that HHH uses a tactic to rile Kane in order for him to have the advantage. To upset the psycologically unstable Kane into a state where he will lose. Being the cerebral assasin.

Doing this KAne Hates HHH and wants to beat him even more.

Triple H's motives were fine, but his means were, as stated in my last post, way over the line into "Who's writing this shit?" territory.

OK i'll leave it as this.

Say i knew you, worked in the same department as you and wanted to get a rise out of you.

So i started saying you killed people and shagged their corpses.

No truth behind it and so police wont get involved.

What would you want to do to me?

Thats the mentality. Its just one character winding another character up.

I honestly wouldn't do jack shit, because I'd realize how ridiculous the charges you leveled were, and everyone around me would realize it too.

But that's the kind of thing a heel challenger does to a face champion. It's backwards ass booking at it's finest, same with the murder angle.

but say you had been in an accident when one of your freinds had been killed, and i was insinuating you were responsible.

Wondering when you'd mention that...

But I still wouldn't do anything at work about it. If I WERE to do anything, it would be outside of the workplace.

Look, I'm all for heels playing mind games with faces, and I actually liked the Taker/Brock bit, because it felt more "Mind Games" than Soap Opera.

But whether or not I root for a certain guy to win, or even care about who wins, rides more often than not on how the story builds up to the match. If the story goes so far out that I stop and think "Ok, this is just too much," I no longer care a single bit about it, and that seems to be the case with a lot of people over RAW is NECROPHELIA.

A lot of you people are missing the point here.

This wasn't done as just a regular storyline, for Kane to be "more motivated" to get HHH, this was done to shock the viewers and to get a publicity buzz, and it FAILED. It's funny how the apologists (read: dumbasses) claim that "there's no such thing as bad publicity" but when there's NO publicity to speak of, then that throws this whole theory out the window.

You know, just for fun I discussed what went on this past Raw with casual fans at work. They were not impressed at all. They were concentrating on the Divas Undressed magazine instead, especially the Molly pictures.:)

"I want you guys to react just how you honestly react when you see it...I don't want to tell you how to react, just do and say what comes natural."

That goes against everything Lawler said in his email about how he's told what to say. Lawler is so full of shit one way or another.

Yes, the power of the Goddess Molly trancends barriers of true and casual fans!

THAT's how to get ratings! Give MOLLY the World Title! (joking...then again, she'd be better than HHH...)

Lawler must have had the "Vince Mcmahon's Smoothing Over Dumb Booking/Angles/Pushes for Dummies" by the computer because he just went through all the cliches in that commentary.

If the WWF is not supposed to be smart - and if it is on the 'idiot box' (not an affectionate term btw) - then they must think the people who watch it are not supposed to be smart - and are idiots? Wow, great way to alienate your fans.

Of course, chpt number 1 of the aformentioned book is "The WWF is the victim, the fans are to blame" - and lawler explained it well.

If they wanted "attention" couldn't they just wrap someone in barbwire and toss them off a ladder into a flaming baby pool filled with glass.

You know something someone may actually want to watch..

I think as World Champion and locker room leader, HHH should be elected to do that.

And make him take his aspirin...

Ok, apologists for this angle, explain this to me:

What is resolved if Kane wins?

What is resolved if HHH wins?

Not a thing. The storyline was pulled out of nowhere. The whole story still sits there when it ends, because a victory by either guy (and let's get real, it's going to be HHH one way or another), doesn't solve it. Unless...they also resolve it outside the ring, with another video tape conveniently surfacing to clear Kane of all wrong doing.

Angles should be tied to the ring as closely as possible. The should definitely end there.
