Mick Foley Interview

4. Anglesault could give us a 20 minute promo on that..."DORK!"

A mere 20? I'm offended.

? He came in and because of the abysmal writing, was almost immediately mishandled, and sometimes never utilized at all. This led to his pissed off rant just before Survivor Series 2001,

Yeah, you could always see Mick having fun on TV. During that rant, he was not happy, he was not having fun, and he really didn't want to be there.

we just want you to try and be a voice of reason. So what if they don't listen to you? YOU'LL BE GETTING PAID TO GIVE YOUR OPINION TO VINNIE MAC, NOTHING MORE. Really, isn't that EVERY smark's dream?

Why should he even waste his time? Vince won't listen to anyone at this point. He has a fixed idea on what he wants, and he wants Foley to be a yes man. You know though, I could honestly see Foley snapping on Hunter in one of those meetings as HHH vetoes everyone of Foley's ideas. The main reason I would want Mick there, is I think it would take him a week, at best, to kick HHH the hell out of those god damned meetings

3. Well, really all he'd have to do would be to sit at home and tell Vince what he thinks of RAW and SD! It's the same deal they offered to Dusty Rhodes. Let me run that by you one more time: Be paid to watch RAW and SD! and bitch to the boss about what pisses you off, and GET PAID FOR IT. Even if they don't listen you still get paid to sit on your ass and watch wrestling.

Admit it, this is your dream job.

If you couldn't tell, I get frustrated very easily. Working for a company that is putting on horrible shows and not even listening to me would be very frustrating, so it's not my dream job.

Mick really wouldn't be anything without the WWE or wrestling on the whole. He would be a man working to feed his family not a retired and well-off writer. Mick has an obligation to wrestling and to the fans to whom he has shown so much to in the past.

Oh big surprise, you're spouting off at the mouth again, throwing the word "fuck" every which way you can. Great way to get people to take you seriously.

As for Mick being OBLIGATED to wrestling. I laugh at that. Mick Foley is RETIRED. He's obligated to one thing and one thing only: HIS FAMILY. YOU need to stop thinking that any wrestler you may have tapes of owes you something just because you paid your "hard earned money" for their merchandise. When is there ever a case, in any other form of employment, that a person is OBLIGATED to a business HE worked for after he retires? Hmm? A business HE helped to build. A business HE helped to put on top. You can piss and moan about how Mick would be nothing without WWE & Vince, but everyone knows that's a crock. Both parties worked to make eachother money. It's a mutual relationship. So, I ask you, if Foley would be no where with out Vince... then where would Vince be had he not had Foley's willingness to go out there and bust his ass to entertain the fans? Where would Vince be if Foley hadn't have agreed to take the plunge at KotR '98? Hmmm. Those are rhetorical questions, by the way. I really could care less about your answers. I can honestly say that after being on this board since April - you are EASILY one of the most annoying people I've EVER seen post here.

And this, folks, is why we need Steve Austin back who would not put up with ANY shit and quite frankly, what went with Austin went with Vince most of the time.

Foley made Vince piles of money. You could argue that he made both HHH and the Rock.

He came back time and time again after he said he had retired...not because he needed the money, he was making much more with his books, but because Vince asked him to.

But what did he get? Treated like crap...not even booked in his hometown. Vince didn't "make him". He's a succesful author because he's a good writer.

He doesn't owe the WWE a damn thing anymore...he's retired. He's out of the wrestling business...that doesn't mean he can't voice his opinions. By Mr. Fuck you's logic, none of us should be allowed to criticize the WWE either since we don't work for them, or wouldn't want to work for them.

Yeah, but you LOVE to bitch. And if you got to bitch about whatever you wanted to people in power, that is your dream job.

Oh and to mach7. I rarely curse. When I do so it is in a situation in which I feel warrants it. I felt that if Mick wanted to complain about the product as we do, he should have the common decency to try to help to make that product better. It's not like he has a very strenuous schedule here. I mean he writes kid's books. He could use the extra money he would get from just telling Vince over the phone what he did or didn't like. Don't get me wrong, he's done a lot for wrestling, but it's very hypocritical for him to sit back and criticize everyone and then be given an opportunity to change it and claim that you don't want to.

I'd take that job in a second.

Anyone have a Recap of the "Byte This" show from last Friday? I didn't see a recap of it anywhere.

I wanted to see if they advoided why Foley backed out of the show.

I don't recall Mick being treated like complete crap at the end of his in-ring career. Sure, his commish run last year was shitty, but does that really cancel out the rest? People talk of the greatness of Mick laying down for Triple H thus creating the great uber-heel, as if all the credit goes to Mick. I've never seen anyone remark on the fact that Mick's career ended in the main-event, after two of the greatest matches of his career. The way Cactus Jack was portrayed in the Triple H feud made Foley a true legend rather than a much-loved funny man. Mick's in-ring career went out with a great push, a great angle, a then-very good worker and two great memorable matches. If anyone can name me anyone who went out with more style then that, please say so. On top of that, his first commisioner role was plainly one he loved doing, and he says so in his book. So, to sum up, I wouldn't say that Mick was treated badly on the whole. He's not obligated to help, but he could be polite.

Still, you could just drive by Stamford and firebomb WWF-HQ as you go by. Leave a note behind at the charred ruins that reads "PUSH GOOD WRESTLERS"

Unfortunately, such a vague instruction would confuse poor Vince, because to Vince and JR, the hosses ARE the good wrestlers. *shudders*

-SP, who is afraid of what it's like in the mind of Vince McMahon
