Guest thebigjig Report post Posted October 26, 2002 Wrestling will always be around. There is still money to be made. I seriously doubt that. We live in dark times... WWE is the only real wrestling company around that is profitable. Everyone just assumes that wrestling is a regenerated fad but I honestly believe that within 20 years it won't exist on a national level
Guest deadbeater Report post Posted October 26, 2002 The trend is not towards sleaze and jackass stuff. the No#1 TV show in America is CSI, which despite the dead bodies, is such a low-key show that it makes Martha Stewart sound like Richard Simmons. The wrestlers need to be motivated to perform. Of all the wrestlers, Trish has the most logical reason to be motivated: trying to overcome her brutal reputation as eye candy who sleept her way to where she is. What is especially needed in a show is strong contrast to the trend. One person must be a strong counterbalance to what is being shown on TV. Somebody needs to be the conscience of the show, like Mick Foley. They have some great candidates, but I submit none would be better than Molly.
Guest justcoz Report post Posted October 26, 2002 Some of my ideas have already been said by a few people already: Storyline (short term fix) Smackdown continues to present the quality product they've been producing. Shane McMahon presents Big Poppa Pump on both Raw and Smackdown as the hottest free agent in sports entertainment. RAW continues to be the 'controversial' show with the heat put on Eric Bischoff as a sleazeball who will do anything for ratings. Further emphasis is placed on seperating the two products with the Smackdown announce team always proclaiming Smackdown to be the only weekly wrestling show on the air and dogging RAW and it's content. RAW pushes the edge content wise going into the next year. Necrophilia leads to a DX reunion, unpolitically correct comments in interviews, RVD becoming the Whole FU*KING Show and WWE's pro marijuana rep (let him write an article for High Times, make the 4:20 references, etc.), Bischoff surrounding himself with well known X Rated stars like Jenna Jameson and Taylor Hayes who entertain him with a little HLA from time to time. In actual Raw wrestling content, RVD and Chris Jericho feud with pot head and bad 80's hair metal references, Goldust turns on Booker T and associates himself with Raven after Raven plays mindgames with him by seducing Terri Runnels. Storm and Regal reign as tag team champs. Booker vs. HHH gets a Raw main event slot with Booker winning the championship when HHH is distracted by the presence of Scott Steiner. Booker celebrates as Steiner and HHH have a stare down. Steiner eventually joins up with HBK and HHH in the new DX. Flair serves as a mentor and while given respect by Shawn and HHH, is continuously disrespeced by Steiner and Shane McMahon. DX hype up another Triple H home video production, this time a private video tape of him and Stephanie McMahon ala Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson complete with HHH shooting it in her mouth and a bitchy Stephanie running to bathroom to brush her teeth as Hunter laughs. Ross and Lawler begin openly complaining about Raw's content to the dislike of Bischoff who does the impossible and pulls Michael Cole and Tazz from the Smackdown broadcast team. Cole and Tazz debut on Raw and Bischoff fires Jim Ross but offers Jerry Lawler a position of T&A Coordinator, Lawler will work closely with stylist Rico on Raw divas. Hulk Hogan comes back and condems Raw's content and talks trash on Eric Bischoff. Jim Ross debuts as the announcer on Smackdown with possibly Paul Heyman or a returning Jesse Ventura on color. Following the Triple H/Stephanie video on Raw, Vince McMahon appears on Smackdown to announce that he's pulling the plug on Raw effective Monday and Bischoff, Hogan and DX can suck it. He has a responsibility to his stock holders, etc. to present an appropriate program. The next week, McMahon confronts Bischoff face to face on the last RAW and is beaten down by HBK, HHH, Steiner, Flair, Shane and Bischoff. Hogan comes to Vince's aid but leg drops a fallen McMahon, then instructing Flair to put the figure four on him while Bischoff and Shane trash talk him. Hogan stands center ring and in unison with others takes off his shirt to reveal WCW Nitro t-shirts. Raw becomes WCW Nitro and Vince and Stephanie put the F (and extra W) into WWWF Smackdown. Television Heat is replaced by a Byte This type show from The World with maybe a musical guests, superstar interview, personality profiles similar to Confidential (ie Trish Stratus cribs, Lita surgery, etc.) and music videos set to Nitro/Smackdown. This show has no affiliation with WWE or WCW - it's a World Wrestling Entertainment production. WWE need to search for a Johnny Knoxville style, wrestling fan, host. Saturday night from 6-8, TNN presents WWWF Velocity and WCW Thunder from the tapings. MAKE MONDAY NIGHT SOMETHING FOR THE WRESTLING FAN!!!! With Nitro's rebirth, they need to make Monday night seem like an event again and special. Raw currently just doesn't feel special compared to MNF. 8PM: Tough Enough reruns from past seasons 9PM: WCW Nitro 11PM: Mean Gene Okerlund and Dusty Rhodes host WWE Rewind - classic clips from NWA, WCW, WWF and ECW if they ever get there. I realize they want to make money from the archive footage but a show like this could just run edited match clips or storyline/angles from the past - make complete matches available on DVD or the net. Profiles on stars from the past similar to Confidential (pieces like the Blassie story, Montreal screwjob, Snuka/Heenan segments, etc.) featuring guys from yesterday like Magnum TA, Don Muraco, Paul Orndorf, etc. SPLIT THE PPV'S This has already been suggested but is necessary! It would make the shows better to have extra time to build up the PPV's which aren't the big 4 (rumble, mania, summerslam, survivor series) which would be WWE productions and feature both companies. That's all for now... I'm freaking tired!
Guest Brian Report post Posted October 26, 2002 Having Heyman and Cornette on different teams embodies the split. Competition.
Guest Nater Report post Posted October 26, 2002 End the split. Never do anything like it again. Shoot myself in the head.
